About our home

Our home is a two-story house, constructed in 1997. It was originally constructed as part of an ecovillage, and some of the eco-friendly aspects of the house are still intact. The entire neighbourhood is constructed according to the same architectural principles and styles, and is very cozy and situated close to a small forest.
An addition was built to the house in 2010. The kitchen and dining area is found on the ground floor, closely connected to the two living room-areas and the fire place. The bathroom and utilities room are also found here. Outside the dining area there is a nice terrace with a seating area and barbeque connected to the garden. The three bedrooms and the toilet are on the second floor. There you also find a children´s play room. In the garden, there is also an annex.

More about us

  1. We are a family of four. David (41) has his own architect firm, which keeps him busy year round. He loves music and plays just about any instrument there is. Sigrun (40) is a high school teacher, and is also very interested in matters of sustainability, alternative living, resource management, etc. She loves travelling, learning languages and communicating with people of different cultures, and has spent several years abroad. Klara (7) started school this year, and Runa (6) is finishing kindergarden this month. They are both very active girls, and our trampoline (in the backyard) is used by children from the entire street. They also spend quite a bit of their spare time joining up with friends on the nearby playground.

Where is it?

Our home is situated in the outskirts of Fredrikstad, a town in the south-eastern part of Norway. The house is on a street, which was originally constructed as a ecovillage, and is directly in contact with the forest and offers great opportunities for hikes in the forest. To reach the city center, you either walk, bicycle, take the bus or the car. A car trip to the city centre will take you approximately 7 minutes. The old town of Gamlebyen Fredrikstad is only 5 minutes away by car. We are only a 5 minute walk from some of the famous petroglyphs of south-eastern Norway.
The Fredrikstad area is well known to Norwegians and others for its beauty and vibrant life, especially during summer months. The archipelago of Hvaler is directly connected to Fredrikstad and offers great beaches, golf, cruises and holiday recreation.
Our home is close to the E6 road, which takes you to Oslo in about an hour, and Gothenburg (Sweden) in approximately 2 hours.
In the near vicinity is a playground (100 meters), a forest and our house is at the end of a little trafficated dead end street. Perfect for families with children! We have a big yard with swings, hammock, trampoline, and lots of green grass! We also have a herbal garden, which you may utilize for your cooking.
