About our home

Literally just refurbished, our home is a much loved, 320 sq metre tranquil mountain retreat with stunning views from every window.

The house itself sits amidst fields with decking areas for food and outdoor relaxation including space for yoga and tranquil meditation inside and out should you choose. We pull the water direct from the natural spring in the area that supplies the exclusive bottled water brand 'Voss'.

The views are amazing with fantastic night skies. Turn out of the house and walk for miles in the beautiful Norwegian mountain (we're the last house up the mountain).

Turn left and it's 5km to the nearest town Evje which is a hub for outdoor pursuits and also has everything you need including a selection of supermarkets and pizza, American diner style restaurants, a Chinese restaurant and some beautiful shops too.

SUMMER
There are your choice of freshwater beaches within approx 10 mins drive, white water river rafting and 2 climbing centres plus go carting. There's a massive choice of places to fish in the river that runs through Evje as well as your choice of what seems like a million fjords. Summers can be glorious with long, warm, sunny days and no clouds.

Our home is set amidst fields with decked seating and fire pit, bbq etc and we often see Roe deer and Elk at the back of the house plus cows come and go. There’s an array of birds, white foxes, hares to name a few off the top of my head. It's escapism at its best and a real tonic from the constant juggling that is modern life.

WINTER
If you go in winter then cross country skiing is firstly free which is excellent but also more glorious scenery. It’s about 5 minutes drive with a selection of other places within about 20 mins. Downhill skiing is about an hour and a half. You should also try snow walking up the mountain too - it's more fun than it sounds, we have 1 male and 1 female snow shoes.
In winter there is lots of beautiful snow - don't underestimate the fun that can be had sledging down the amazing fields upon which the house proudly sits.

PRACTICALITIES
On a practical note, our house is wood built with underfloor heating and 2 wood burning stoves.

We have an open plan kitchen and dining room with table for 8, 10 at a push. There is also 1 spacious TV room upstairs away from it all with amazing surround sound and no neighbours to disturb.

We also have a large reading area with fantastic views plus a large separate office space as well.

The house is actually 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with an additional 2 separate toilets but we keep 1 bedroom locked for personal use. There is a sofa bed in the reading room and one for the large upstairs office. Both are good quality as are the beds.

2 single bedrooms upstairs and 1 large double with a queen bed that will split in to 2 singles. 1 double bedroom downstairs. All mattresses are great quality to secure a great rest.

We also have a laundry room should you need it.

Hopefully you may be able to view a short video of the inside of the house at https://youtu.be/prIRHptKTMw
There is no Wi-Fi but as Norway is classed as Europe by the phone companies roaming is free within your usual contract terms. We also have a Bose DVD player with a selection of DVD's and the TV will run off a USB stick.

If you would like a cleaner, this can be arranged but we normally ask our guests to leave our home as our next guests would expect to find it. We also ask that you don't smoke in the house please. If you're travelling in winter there may well be snow clearing fees.

A BIT ABOUT US
We both gave up corporate life a few years ago and set up our own successful massage and reflexology business in London which allows us relative flexibility to travel.

We're a couple aged 43 and 37 and usually travel alone although sometimes we may come with family or friends - we're not party animals. We love nothing better than good food either home cooked or eaten out with a bottle of better wine.
We love our second home and really don’t want it sitting empty when it could be enjoyed by people who will respect it. We have a wanderlust in us and see this as an opportunity to experience different aspects of life ourselves whilst filling our home with the life and energy of other people who will also benefit from its peace and tranquillity. We trust you with our home and we will look after yours.
