Our house is situated in Tennfjorden, 30 min from the town of Ålesund, and 40 min from Alesund Airport Vigra (AES). We live in a new and cosy neighbourhood, in a area recently developed/ regulated for houses. Our neighbors are nice and helpful and are aprx. same age as us (35- 45 with kids).
It is a 3 min walk to the sea, and a cosy beach, and you can also reach various mountains by walking directly from the house. We also have fantastic areas for more serious hiking, if you like to spend more time in the mountains. Our bikes are to you’re disposal.
The area is also nice for numerous outdoor activities, cycling, skiing (in the wintertime) kayaking, windsurfing- either in the nearest fjord, or on the Giske islands- 40 min by car. I have some surf- equipment to lend out, 2 boards, 4-5 different sail rigs and some wetsuits... We do also have equipment for the whole family to cross-country skiing, and downhill/ alpine skiing as well (and snowboards for the parents:)
Trampoline and smal football field in the garden.
Swap cars? We have a 2011 Peugot 5008 (7- seat) and a 1999 Mercedes C- class (5 seat)
The nearby islands are good for cycling- trips for the whole family, why not bring a tent and spend the night?
It is a 30 min drive to the town of Ålesund (50 000 inh.), listed as the most beautiful town in Norway by The Times Magazine in 2009. The town was rebuild in art- nouvea style, after a devastating fire in 1904.
Molde (25 000) is a small but beautiful post-war architectonic town further north, 1,5 hours including a ferry trip. Molde is called «The town of roses» because of their gardening traditions, and are famous for the Jazz Festival in mid- July. They also have a good football- team that managed the group stage of the champions league tournament in the season of 99-00. Two season- tickets for you’re disposal during your stay!
You can also go another hour to see «one of the worlds best road-trips» The Atlantic Road
The famous Geirangerfjorden is 1 hour and 20 minutes drive from our house. The fjord is a part of the UNESCO World Heritage program
We also have access to a small boat, ideal for fishing, or just a boat trip !
