About our home

Our home is situated in a child friendly neighbourhood 5 minutes outside Tønsberg city centre. The house has recently been totally renovated to a high standard. Our home provides open plan living with 4 bedrooms. We have a large well-equipped kitchen and separate laundry with modern appliances. All floors on the ground floor are heated, which is highly appreciable in winter. Three of the four bedrooms are located upstairs, as well as the main bathroom. The master bedroom has its own balcony. One of the children's rooms has a single bed. We have a playroom in the basement with TV and games/toys etc which also has sleeping sofa, suitable for two kids.

New of 2015 is our conservatory which opens up on three sides, a 70 m2 veranda and double garage. We have our own big garden with swing, trampoline and small soccer goal. In addition, recreational areas for running and cross country skiing in winter are just a walking distance away. A sledding hill for children and an indoor ice-skating hall are close by.

Tønsberg is the oldest city in Norway with a rich history back to the viking era. The city is situated by the sea, below a mountain with the ruins of a viking castle. Nowadays it is a buzzling city with shops, restaurants, galleries and museums. Around Christmas it is beautifully decorated, often covered in snow. In summer it is a popular holiday destination, with stunning skerries only minutes outside the city. In July, Tønsberg hosts one of Norway's most popular international music festivals up on the castle mountain (Slottsfjellfestivalen).

Oslo, the capital of Norway, is only about one hour away, easily reached by train or car. An international airport, Torp Sandefjord, is located less than 30 minutes away.

We also have a traditional Norwegian mountain chalet in the popular winter destination Uvdal, which is a three-hour drive away (see own listing for Uvdal, Buskerud). If desirable, this chalet could be included in the house swap.

Provided with the house are sledding boards, ice-skates and bikes (2 adult, 2 children). A car exchange for a Mitsubishi Outlander 4 wheel drive (7 seater) with ski box is available.

A departure home clean will be provided with the house swap (not chalet). Please note that our home is strictly non-smoking and we have no pets.

My husband Odd Ivar and I have 2 beautiful children. We have traveled extensively in Europe and Australia, and also to several countries in Asia, America and Africa. We have participated in exchanges in Australia, France and the US.

We are currently looking for a swap to Melbourne, Australia, 22-30 December 2019. We are also interested in swapping with homes in Europe for weekends throughout the year.
