About our home

We have a 3 rooms apartment consisting of: 1 bathroom, 1 bedroom with a double bed, 1 small childrens room with a baby/junior bed, and a large kitchen/livingroom in one. In the living room there's a sofa which can be turned into a comfortable double bed. Its also possible to put a madras in the childrens room. From all rooms, except the bathroom there's a view of the fiord and the mountain on the other side. We haven't got a TV, but in the livingroom theres a large window with a homemade daybed underneath, perfect for reading a book while watching the boats pass by or the beams from the midnight sun.
We're looking for a place to stay in Normandy or near to to the region for a couple of days in the beginning of July this year, but since we're often away ourselves, we're open for non-simultaneous exchange.

More about us

  1. We're a little family of 3, who moved up here from Denmark because of the nature. Esben and Lea, the parents are students of filmmaking/anthropology and our daughter Frida is 3 years old and a great skier. Since we still live on a student budget our home is not filled with luxury, but we think it's very cosy. We spend most of our spare time outdoor, hiking, skiing, fishing, gathering berries and plants. And then we like to spend a lot of time cooking!

Where is it?

Our apartment is situated on the island of Tromsø, 500 km north of the polar circle. This means there's midnight-sun from May to the end of July and polarnights from November to January, with lots of northern lights during winter.
We live 6 km from Tromsø city center, and 300 meters from a nature area with small hiking paths, nice for an evening stroll with view of the midnight-sun. In winter there's cross country skiing tracks beginning 500 meters from the doorstep.
There's buses going to the center every 15th. minutes. Tromsø is the "capital" of northern Norway, with 70.000 habitants and a rich cultural life, but the best thing about the area is the combination of city life and mountain nature, you can go hiking or skiing during the day and spend the evening on a city cafe or Norways oldest cinema.
In every direction of the city there's mountains and fiords and possibilities of day trips. Some hours into the mainland there's some of Europe's most remote wilderness, eg. the nationalpark of Dividalen. The coast fronting the open Atlantic is a 45 minutes drive away from the city, with lots of small white sand beaches. On a good summer day you can take a swim and you wont believe you're this far north, but even on less warm days (which is more common) it's a nice place for a walk or a picnic in sweater.
There's great angling opportunities both in the mountain lakes and in the fiords - it's quite unlikely to spend a day fishing without returning with dinner!
