About our home

The Hacienda in Boquete, Panama is a beautiful 3 bedroom, 3 ½ bath home nestled on a small banana forest in the Jaramillo Mountain of Boquete. There is also a cozy guest house included in the exchange.

There are extraordinary views from each window of this home of the lush trees and the fern, bromeliad and orchid gardens. The downstairs has 2 gorgeous bedrooms, an open family room with a small wood game table, a couch, cozy chairs, book cases, coffee table and breakfast station with microwave, electric kettle, hot plate, convection oven and a toaster. We have yoga mats, board games, a book lending library and many DVD’s. There is Wi-Fi in all rooms.

The upstairs has a lovely living room, TV area, breakfast bar, DVD, wireless internet, large dining table, complete kitchen with dishwasher, Master Bedroom Suite with private bathroom. We have a large open deck with a BBQ and a exquisite view to the Volcan Baru. There is a separate covered deck that overlooks the gardens and opens onto the dining room and the master bedroom.

The Master Suite Bedroom is upstairs in the main living area. It has a king size bed with cozy, high-quality linens. This is the largest bedroom conveniently located upstairs next to the kitchen. There is a desk for your lap top so you can catch up on email and a sweet little window seat perfect for a private reading area. The Master Suite opens onto the covered deck through full glass French doors. The room has many windows so everywhere you look is lush green natural beauty. The bathroom is attached and has a full bath tub and a large shower and two sinks.

Bedroom 1 downstairs: The Terrace Bedroom, located downstairs, opens onto a large, covered patio decorated with a variety of cacti and succulents. The outdoor furniture is ideal for eating your morning meal or relaxing from your daily hike. There is a hammock for the ultimate Panamanian relaxation experience. Gardens grace the walkway. The room has a queen size bed with high count sheets and comforter. There is a TV with DVD player. The complete bathroom is a mere five feet from your door. You have free Internet access in The Terrace Bedroom.

Bedroom 2 downstairs: The Garden Suite is an airy room beautifully appointed with hand crafted wood closets and French doors that open to lush gardens. There is a small sitting room with a television and DVD player. Through the arched window and full light glass French doors, there are beautiful gardens and huge bananas trees. The Garden Suite has linen curtains, plush towels, sheets and comforter for the queen size bed, loads of space to store your things for a long stay and a large bathroom.

We have one adult sized single bed that accommodates another adult and several roll-up foam mats for children.

We also include The Casita in our exchange. It was designed to meet the standards of even the most discriminating visitor. Each window has views to the green, lush vegetation. The 2 arched windows add delightful ambience and style. There is a queen size bed with a high quality mattress and luxurious linens, a dining and computer area and a small love seat for watching movies or the warm rain in cozy comfort. There is wireless internet, a TV, DVD player and a small library of DVD’s for your use.

The kitchen cupboards and the closet are hand crafted from local woods that bring warmth into the room. The kitchen has a small refrigerator, a stove top and oven, and a remarkable country sink and has everything you need to prepare meals. The kitchen has a drip coffee maker, French coffee press, electric kettle, toaster, blender, rice maker, plates, bowls, glasses, cups, silverware, pots and pans, bake wear, assorted mixing bowls, plastic food saver containers, napkins, paper towels, extra trash bags and dish and kitchen towels, dish soap and much more.

The creek area is tropically lush with many bananas and jungle fauna and is magnificent even in the dry season when the water recedes. You have use of the entire Hacienda complex which comprise walk-ways, terraces and benches where assorted succulents, orchids and bromeliads are gathered to enhance the ambience. There are meditation benches lining the creek bed set in areas that generate quiet contemplation or shared meaningful conversation. Bring your morning coffee or evening glass of wine as you wander the gardens.

There is a mixture of banana plantation, wild jungle and planned garden beds. There is funky garden art and special nooks throughout the property. Colorful concrete benches, comfortable outside furniture, couches, swings and hammocks are discovered as you investigate the grounds.
