About our home

Our place is in the heart of Barranco and dates back to the 1890s. It has old world charm and is quaint in its design with modern touches. We restored the home when we bought in 2007 and it is constantly being updated. It has two bedrooms downstairs and a tower (turret) bedroom on the roof with its own bathroom. The 180sqm space on two floors is open plan with lots of light, colour and comfort. We have cable television, strong and unlimited wifi access and the kitchen is well-equipped.

Please note that the home is shared with our two (independent) cats, Mishka and Mikah. They generally keep to themselves and our housekeeper drops by when we are away to feed and clean for them. Additional paid cleaning services are available.

More about us

  1. We are a NZ-Australian-Peruvian-British family living between Peru, France and Australia so if you are also interested in South America then our apartment in Lima may also be an option. We have completed more than nine exchanges in the past nine years.

  2. Pamela is an educator and Paul restores houses and worked in IT. Manny is 15 and easy going. Grandmother Kay sometimes travels with us as well.

  3. We love art and design and travelling to different places and meeting new people. Living like a local is the greatest adventure. We respect others' homes and property and have had great experiences so far.

Where is it?

Our home offers easy access to everything. It is a very short walk to the main square, the 'bajada de baños' and the Bridge of Sighs en route to the ocean, and to parks, galleries and shops (only 200 metres from the supermarket).

Barranco is like the Montmartre of Peru - filled with artists and old world architectural treasures and is also becoming known for it's range of up-beat cafes and restaurants. It is a short taxi ride from Larco Mar - a shopping and restaurant complex on the ocean and is easily accessible to all the major tourist places to see such as the Larco Museum or via the Metropolitano bus to downtown Lima to visit the presidential palace or the San Francisco monastery.
