Our apartment is modern and spacious with wooden floors. It has 2 double bedrooms each with WC and shower, also one bath. Spectacular ocean view from the large living/dining room, ideal for entertaining. Two balconies. Fully fitted kitchen with all appliances. We love to sit on the leather sofas drinking red wine and watching the cruise ships sailing in from the distance.
We are Greg and Rose, in our mid fifties and we fell in love with Madeira on our first visit. It is our second home and we hope to retire there soon. Greg works as a project manager in construction and I am a retired teacher.
We are open to simultaneous or non simultaneous exchanges any time of year. We also love to travel and explore other countries and have wanted to do a home exchange for some time. I love cooking even when on holiday, my husband also enjoys his home comforts, so this would suit us both. Please contact us if you are interested.
Madeira is a small Portuguese island off the coast of North Africa, near the Canary Isles. It is known as the "Jewel of the Atlantic". Only a 3 1/2 hour flight from London. It is a 2 hour flight to mainland Portugal.
Our apartment is ideally situated between the airport and seaside city of Funchal. With excellent buses and taxi service, you can get everwhere using local buses. There are several modern shopping centres, cafes and restaurants close by.Try the local specialities:- Espetada (grilled best beef chunks on metal skewers), Bolo de Caco (a special regional bread served toasted with garlic butter or with chorizo) Prego especial (steak, ham, cheese, salad and garlic butter sandwich).
Tourists can enjoy levada walks, cable car to tropical gardens with Madeira wine tasting, sightseeing tours, dolphin and whale watching boat trips, or just relaxing in the warm all year round sub tropical climate.
Madeira is either for people who like to smell the flowers, chill out with amazing people, food, wine and beautiful views. Or for the more active outdoor pursuits, if you like diving, deep sea fishing as well as sailing, kayaking or mountain biking, rock climbing and different levels of levada walks even surfing so come try it.
Also a popular Christmas/New year destination, people and cruise ships come for the spectacular fire work display New Year's Eve which lights up the island.
