Where is it?
Ericeira is a parish and a fishing and seaside resort town on the west coast of Portugal, about 35 km north-west of the centre of Lisbon. It has the Atlantic Ocean as an eternal companion. Out of this relationship, the sun has given the best of its light and an ocean of traditions has been born. The whole area is surrounded by several beaches. Some of the beaches are ideal for surfing, others are perfect for relaxing.
The hospitality of its people, the harmony of the "old village" with its narrow cobblestone streets, characteristic housing, singular monuments, the sea, the fishing, the cuisine, the bold Atlantic views and the multiplicity of cultural programming interlace here in a grand way to welcome its visitor.
Ericeira routinely hosts a round of the World Surf Championship and is widely regarded as one of the best spot in Europe for the practice of this sport, with beaches suitable for all practitioner levels.
If you are into food, you have try the amazing gastronomy of Portugal. Gastronomically Ericeira is known for its quality of fresh fish and seafood. The restaurants and seafood restaurants ("marisqueiras") offer a great variety of dishes, some famous and typical of the Ericeira area, like the "puré de mariscos".
Not far from Ericeira, you can find Lisbon (or in portuguese Lisboa :) ), the capital of Portugal. Lisbon ticks all the boxes, it has prime waterfront, beautiful palaces, ancient winding streets and a lively cultural heart.
