About our home
My 1-bedroom, 2nd floor apartment in the centre of Lisbon comes with a sunny balcony, hardwood floors, lots of books and plenty of charm.
I began renting this apartment in a 1950s walkup building in 2007, restored it with care and kept IKEA furniture to a bare minimum.
I did bring in a lot of cheap, vintage furniture finds of my own, as well as objects and posters designed by friends or people I admire.

I'm a thirty-something design writer and curator. I came back to Lisbon in the Summer of 2010 after spending two years in New York studying design criticism; I've also lived in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Treviso, Italy.
I'm currently teaching at two universities, but I travel a great deal for work and leisure (especially weekend/city breaks).
I'm very neat, but also extremely easy going. And allergic to cats.

Found conveniently across the street from a supermarket, my apartment is at the centre of one of Lisbon's nicest, easiest neighbourhoods.
Planned and built in the 1940s and 50s, the Avenida de Paris - Avenida de Roma - Praça de Londres - Praça do Areeiro area features great architecture, plenty of shops and cafés (including Mexicana, a mid-century modern icon and a great place to go for pastries), one of Lisbon's best bookstores (Barata), independent cinemas (Londres, King) and a world-class university (Instituto Superior Técnico).
It's only a five-minute walk from two metro stations (Areeiro, Alameda), and close to plenty of bus lines (including a night bus and a direct bus line to the airport, which will get you there in less than twenty minutes).
I'm also always surprised with how much ground I can cover on foot within a fifteen-minute radius.
