Cool, mid-century modern furnishings adorn this wonderful apartment in Lisbon. Tucked away on a quiet street in Penha de Franca, a short walk from notable buzzing neighbourhoods such as Anjos, Graca and Alfama, Explore this international quarter with its open-air galleries, spice markets, diverse restaurants and plenty of cultural institutions and venues. Spend your days wandering through the narrow streets, admiring little shops and stopping for a coffee and a pastel de nata. The apartment itself has a clean, eclectic interior and a small courtyard garden with a built in bbq , hammock and comfy seating area. The kitchen has everything you need to cook up a meal, but with so many restaurants to sample in local neighbourhoods such as Graca and Alfama, you might never need it.
My partner and I bought the apartment in June 2021. It has been fully renovated and has all modern appliances. The kitchen has marble worktops, ceramic floor tiles and there are hard wood floors throughout the hall, bedroom, living room and dining room. The apartment is situated on the ground floor. Our neighbours are quiet and friendly.
The apartment comes with two Siamese kitties, Moka and Oshi. As part of the exchange, they will need to be fed 2-3 times a day (everything provided). They do not go outside, they are house cats. They are very friendly and loving, a little shy at first.
If you would like to request a swap, please tell me a little about you and why you want to travel to Lisbon. I can't wait to hear from you :-)
I (Cherilyn) am a freelance Copywriter and my partner Joe is an English Teacher. We both work online so are super flexible to travel.
We love exploring new places, hiding away from tourist attractions and living as much as possible like locals.
Eating is our main hobby, we eat out regularly and enjoy foods from all different cultures. We love the city but also crave nature, we enjoy spending time in the country and at the beach.
Penha de Franca is where our apartment is situated, it's a very local, residential area. You'll want to take a short walk (20 mins) or Uber to Graça for more interesting restaurants, flea markets and viewpoints. If Graça was a person, it would be a local shop owner who knows everyone and asks you for 'the usual' after you've been there a few times, tourist or not. But although Graça is one of Lisbon's oldest neighbourhoods, it's far from a sleeper village. Young professionals flock here due to reasonable rents and have brought cool street art and new flavours to the area. Situated on the highest of Lisbon’s seven hills, Graça is a very sought after location for young locals to go on romantic walks, chasing orange and pink sunsets over the river from the various miradors in the neighborhood. Filled with cafes with outside seating and green spaces, it is ideal for a relaxing day, away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Lisbon.
