About our home

We have a bungalow property having 2 bedrooms (1 is used as a study at the moment)and we have a self contained studio cottage sleeping 2 persons attached to the house. We are in the country with 2 hectares of traditional fruit trees, fig, almond, alfaroba and olive and surrounded by fruit farms growing oranges. We are 30 minutes from Faro airport serving a maximum 3 hour flight to England. Flights also to many destinations in continental Europe as well as Lisbon and Oporto. Railway from Faro to the North of Portugal takes 3hours to Lisbon and 6 hours to Oporto for the Port wine caves or the boat journey up the Duoro river to visit the vineyards and estates. 20 minutes to the beautiful blue flag beaches of the Algarve washed by the Atlantic. 30 minute car journey to a choice of at least 10 championship golf courses, the very large marina with all the boutique shops and attractions, and the Spanish border. From there we are 90 minutes from Seville to see the famous cathedral and bull ring. Alternatively you can relax in the peace and tranquility of the Portuguese countryside. We have small food shops and good restaurants within 15 minutes and the largest fishing harbour on the Algarve with it's associated fish restaurants. Finally we have the beautiful clean air recognized by photographers and artists to keep us fit and healthy.

More about us

  1. Kate and I retired from England her to Portugal in 2002 and we have never looked back. We are mid 60's and keep healthy by eating the good food from the traditional country markets and we have our exercise on the bowling green. We are both very enthusiastic about Flat Green Bowling on grass. We have represented Portugal in International competition and John is currently President of Bowls Portugal. We also enjoy sailing but having sold our boat a few years ago we have to rely on sailing with friends. This will be our first experience of exchange but if all goes well it will not be our last although it will take a lot for us to leave this part of the world for a holiday.
