About our home
The house is antique, but the rooms are big, with high ceilings (3.2 m) and lots of high windows. Very cool in the summer (walls made of 8o cm thick stone). Big garden. The location is very central in Porto, the area is called Foz. Foz is considered to be very chique and fashioned nowadays. This means lots of good restaurants, a nice boulevard and beach, good shops. But you will also find cheap restaurant with delicious fish dishes. Pure air. In our street, at 200 m from the beach, you will get the impression to be in a village: calm street, lots of parking space. Buses at 50 m. from the house. Caps are cheap in Porto.

My husband and I are Dutch, but we have been living almost 20 years in Porto. We know the country very well and can help you with some advice. During the summer we often have guests (bed and breakfast)in our house (see the homepage). My husband was an chemical engineer, but has retired now. I teach and translate. Our 2 children (15 and 18 in 2007) will soon go their own way, so we hope to have more time to travel.
Our dog (small, type hunting dog) has his 'house' in the garden. The two cats sleep in the garden house. In case it is a problem for you feeding them we can ask our friendly neighbours.

Where is it?
Neighbourhood
Porto is the capital of North Portugal. The Portuguese conquered Portugal starting in the North of the country. So most of the nice chateâux (the 'solars do Norte' are very famous), medieval houses and streets are situated in the North of Portugal (Guimarães and Braga are a must).
The northern part of Portugal has another advantage: nature is sweet and lovely. Lots of green hills, woods to wander in and splendid beaches. No mass tourism and very friendly inhabitants.
The airport Porto is at a distance of 15 min.
