About our home

My apartment looks south out over the city, the river Sado and the "Parque Natural de Arrábida" sounds of church bells, sheep bells & cicadas. We have two bedrooms, one bathroom a large sitting room connected to the kitchen and outside to a large balcony with a BBQ. The apartment can sleep 2 couples comfortably, but there is a fold out double bed in the sitting room (6 max). I have a flower and herb garden with an automatic watering system. The balcony is completely private, and is a very social place. We can often sit outside in winter, quite often March April and all the time May to October. 38°31'26.00"N 8°54'28.50"W

Where is it?

Setúbal is an interesting working city set on a large river estuary, the river Sado. We are 40km (40mins) south of Lisbon. We also have superb beaches, golf courses and the Arrábida National Park. We have a thriving fishing port, shipyards, a paper mill, a power station and we are the export terminal for the Portuguese car industry. Setúbal is a thriving city with many amenities which are dedicated to the tastes of the Portuguese which is much better than living in a tourist town. There are many many traditional Portuguese restaurants and some interesting contemporary ones. The shops and restaurants are within walking distance as is the nearest beach and the ferry to Troia where there are many beaches and a golf course. To explore further it would be necessary to have a car, but it would be well worth it. I have one bicycle, but I may be able to organize more.
