“Isabel is a wonderful home exchange partner; she is warm and friendly, helpful, responsive, responsible, organized, and fair. We stayed in her apartment for 2.5 weeks. Her apartment is older but spacious and very clean. Our plane was delayed, but Isabel waited, and met us at the apartment to show us around. She organized a taxi to pick us up from the airport. She gave us lots of information on the area, with an emphasis on good restaurants. We would not have discovered many of the hidden gems in the area otherwise. The area is laid back with many charming villages, hikes with rivers, waterfalls and old ruins. The locals were very hospitable. Our favorite town was Guimaraes, near Braga. Special shout-out to the following restaurants: O Cortico and Pizzeria Don Goncalo in Sever do Vouga, DeRaiz in Rebordinho, Bacalau in Porto, and Manjar da Pedra in Talhadas. The homemade icecream at Sabor@Arte in Couto de Esteves is better than Grom! Our holiday in Portugal holds a special place in our hearts due to the relationship we formed with Isabel and her family.
