About our home

Our home is comfortable, clean, and spacious. It has a large kitchen with adjoining dining room and a large lounge with a wood burning fireplace. The master bedroom has an ensuite bathroom. There are three further double bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms have balconies with great views. The swimming pool is 10x5 metres and can be heated easily. The villa is on an estate, security is good - patrolling night guard. It overlooks Tavira, fabulous views down the river to the sea. The garden is lovely with a gazebo near the pool. Space for parking three cars. It is a second home so we can be flexible on dates although we are generally there for the whole of July. We love the villa and the surrounding area. We have a small fairly old car - automatic - which would be available.

More about us

We are John and Janine. I am English, my wife French. We are both retired, I was a lawyer, Janine a teacher. We have a large house in Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, England, which you would be welcome to stop off in if you wish. We have four special friends who we often holiday with - two retired couples and we would like to have the option of bringing them with us.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

Tavira is a wonderful old town with an historic centre, over 30 churches, and a river running through the middle. It is on the Ria Formosa,a large protected environmental area with a variety of bird life including flamingoes. A short (3 minute) boat ride takes you to Tavira Island with fabulous beaches or the island can be accessed by a little train from neighbouring Santa Luzia where you can also walk to the beach. Tavira and the surrounding towns and villages have many good restaurants and we can let you know all the best ones. There are three excellent golf corses within 10 minutes drive and four others within 15- 20 minutes. The Guadiana river and Spain are only 30 kilometres away by motorway - Seville in Spain is a drive of only one and a half hours.
