Our house is a traditional little farmhouse with a barn that we rebuilt as an apartment. It's situated in a lovely river landscape, more or less in the geographical centre of Portugal. The house itself (100m2) has a large open kitchen, a comfortable living, one bedroom and a huge terrace. Behind this farmhouse there is a very little guesthouse, no more than a sleepingroom, in which two more people can sleep.
The barn is situated at a lower terrace, in sight of the main house. It has a comfortable living, about 60m2, including an open kitchen. There is a little sleepingroom with two beds and a basic bathroom. In front of the entrance there is a large terrace.
The garden is huge and full of olives, oranges and plum trees. Because the spot is around 250 meters above see level, the evenings usually cool down till a very pleasant temparature.
The house is situated in a lovely river-landscape, in the middle of grapevines and olive trees. Tomar (at 12km.) is an interesting historical spot with its famous and gorgeous Convento de Christo., that's built during a period of five centuries. (12th-17th century).
The Zezere lake (storage reservoir) is huge and has dozens of little beaches. There are lots of beautiful old villages like Dornes, with its 12th century tower and beautiful old church, and Constancia, where the river Zezere meets the river Tejo. Fatima is at 40km.
To reach the ocean it costs you a two hour drive and in Tomar you can catch a train to Lisbon or Coimbra, both a two hours trip.
Tomar is a little, modern town where you can buy everything you like, and its market on fridaymorning is famous. It even has got a little museum and art gallery, beside some very good restaurants.
