We are an Australian couple with 2 girls. In 2014 we are interested in swaps in Asia &/or Spain during the school holidays - mid June to late July. Also interested in swaps later in the year (Sept & Xmas or New Years breaks) Sydney, Margaret River, Fremantle, Stradbroke Island, Sunshine Coast - where we have family and friends.
Our home is a beautiful older style two level stand alone house about 300 m2 in size on a large 600 sqm2 block in the Orchard district of Singapore. 10 minute walk to Orchard Road shopping!
The outside of the house features a large grassy front yard with a massive springless trampoline, a fenced salt water pool and a BBQ. The house features four bedrooms and three bathrooms, plus a self contained maid's quarters. Our helper lives on the premises and will be here to help you throughout your stay. We also have a small super friendly spoodle dog who would be cared for our maid.
The gardener comes every fortnight.
The house is fully air conditioned and well equipped for kids, we have two girls aged two and six so there is plenty for little ones to play with. There is cable tv in two separate rooms.
IN THE AREA:
Bang in the middle of the shopping belt but yet enshrouded in greenery, Singapore's lush rainforest beauty thrives in this area.
The five star luxurious Shangri-La is up the street - walk home after a luxurious meal or 2 for 1 drinks with a view, their breakfast is world class - free flowing Prosecco.
Walk to world famous Orchard Road, shop til you drop, eat like a king at the hawker centres. Jump on an MRT and explore the Colonial Area, Little India, not to be missed Chinatown night markets, cool down in the Cloud dome in the magnificent Gardens by the Bay, scale to the top of Marina Bay Sands and take it all in!
Our location is brimming with nostalgia, if you know where to look. From the majestic Black & Whites on Orange Grove Road & Nassim areas. Predominantly betel nut and nutmeg plantations were the areas of White house Road and Dalvey Estate. One or two of the old beautiful plantations houses have survived all within walking distance.
Take a bus or taxi about 5 mins to Dempsey Hill and indulge in some fine dining and retail therapy amongst the greenery. Whilst being transported back to a time when Dempsey was the old army barracks, the first port of call for every young man enlisting.
At the end of a long day take a dip in our salt water pool, order up some meat (can be ordered in the morning to be delivered) and have a bbq. Don't forget that duty free bottle Gin on the way through Changi - it will come in handy on those steamy afternoons.
