About our home

Located in the leafy suburbs of Essenwood, in central Durban. 5 minutes to the main Durban promenade and city beaches. Close to lovely parks, top restaurants and bars. Our home is tucked away in a quiet road but close to everything you could want from a holiday in Durban. We have a lovely garden and pool. Great outside entertainment area, and a spacious open plan living area. 3 bedrooms upstairs all with own bathrooms. One self contained flatlet on the property with double bedroom and bathroom.

We often go for runs / walks in the neighbourhood. The beaches are very close and we go during the week, on evenings and every weekend - even in winter!

Where is it?

Buzzy restaurants
Our favourite restaurant in Durban is a short walk away - Market Restaurant. There are also plenty of top notch Restaurants close by - Cafe 1999; Unity Bar; Spiga D'oro; Marcos; House of Curries;
Cool bars
Florida Road is a main Durban attraction with plenty of great bars and restaurants. It is a 2 minute drive or a short 15minute walk.
Cozy cafés
Don't miss the decedent delights of Chateau Gateax down the road; or try the quirky Churchills Cafe set in an antique shop with open air garden seating
Retail therapy
Florida road has some lovely boutique stores - it is known for designer stores focusing on Home decor, Clothing design and Textiles; There are some malls in close proximity - Musgrave Centre and Windermere Centre are both an easy 5 minute drive.
Bit of culture
The reason most people visit Durban is the beaches. We have some of the best beaches 5 minutes away and a wonderful promenade that stretches 10km. Take a walk, jog, cycle, skate along this strip and you will get a good sense of the mix of people and culture that Durban has to offer. We love it!
Walks in the park
Botanical Gardens is a treasure trove of beautiful plants and pathways. Take a picnic or grab a coffee and laze about in the shade of the tropical garden - Don't miss the Orchid House
Spot of exercise
The Beachfront Promenade is alive with activity from Sunrise to Sunset. Durban has a lot of outdoors loving, sport loving people and many of them hit the promenade to work up a sweat. Alternatively, visit King Park Pool (Olympic size) for a small fee (R7.00)
Day tripping
Umhlanga Village is only a 20 minute drive away but is has lovely beaches, plenty of shops and restaurants and the largest Mall is Southern Africa (Gateway Theatre of Shopping). A bit further north is Umdloti Beach - lovely for a quiet day at the beach, or Ballito - Thomson Bay Tidal Pool is a treat! Inland there are the spectacular Makaranga Gardens in Kloof (30 minute drive) - well worth a visit for tea or lunch and a Garden stroll.
