About our home

Our home is a very comfortable airy family home in the heart of the famous Garden Route of South Africa. The house is a double story and has been designed to take advantage of the the tranquility and beauty of the area. On the top story (which is in fact entered at normal ground level) there is the main lounge (with TV), large open plan kitchen, separate scullery area, study, master bedroom (with bathroom en suite,TV area and king size bed), and two balconies, one leading off the lounge and the other off the bedroom. There is also a verandah (stoep) at the entrance to the house, with a built in barbeque facility.

The lower story comprises two bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. The one room has a queen size double bed and the other two single beds. They each open onto a balcony. Then there is a large "utlity" room, with its own bathroom, which can serve as a lounge/games room/ additional sleeping area. It has two three quarter size beds and it too opens onto a balcony.

All the bedrooms, as well as the lounge and the utility room have exqusite sea views.

As this is our home (as distinct from a holiday home) it is very well equipped.

More about us

  1. My wife Gale (approaching a spritely 60) and I (a fit 58 year old)are a conservative house proud couple and we have 2 young adult children living in London. Gale is an Anglican priest and I'm a retired corporate attorney.

We are keen to visit our children in London and other places in Europe from time to time and we are also enthusiatic about seeing other parts of the world while we still have the good health and energy to do so. It is for this reason that we would like to exchange the use of our home with others.

Where is it?

The house is in a private nature reserve of 22 hectares and is well situated on a cliff to optimise fantastic views of the sea. There are 330 steps down the cliff to a beautiful beach which is safe for paddling but not swimming. There are two other paddling beaches close by, which can be reached on foot only provided you are reasonably fit. The main public beach, which is regarded as one of the best in the country, is less than 2 kilometres away by road.

Our village, which is very small, is known as Brenton On Sea and has one very small shop for bare necessities and a carvery/pasta eatery. Its 16 kilometres from the town of Knysna.
