About our home

Our home is a very spacious, beautifully designed haven with lake and mountain views from every room. The whole downstairs open up onto a decked courtyard with a heated pool and under cover lounge as well as an enclosed games room with gas barbecue. The kitchen is open plan with the dining room and lounge which have a twelve seater dining table and a Scan closed fireplace. Off the kitchen is a large scullery and pantry which lead into a triple garage. Separate to the lounge there is a TV lounge with large flatscreen plasma TV and surround sound, as well as an upright piano. Also downstairs is a spacious double bedroom with an on-suite shower and double doors towards the lake. Upstairs on one wing of the house we have 3 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms, one of them on-suite. The main bedroom with its walk-in wardrobe and very spacious bathroom is located away from the other bedrooms in a seperate wing of the house. It is a home ideally suited to a family with older children as mom and dad are a little distance away from the rest of the household! There is also a comfortable couch in the main bedroom from where you can relax and enjoy the magnificent views and birdlife. The house has got solid wooden floors throughout the downstairs area and is lovely and warm in winter and cool in summer.

More about us

  1. We are Peter and Riana, a married couple in our fourties with three boys aged 16,18 and 21. Peter has his own IT business and Riana is a full time mom and part time student. We all love traveling and lived in Europe for three years before choosing to raise our family in beautiful sunny Cape Town. Now that the boys are becoming independent, we would like to travel more and spend longer periods as 'locals' in far away destinations! We are very neat as a family and would look after someone's home as if it was our own. We would also be happy to leave you our car as it is essential to have one when visiting South Africa. At this stage we'd have to arrange a simultaneous exchange as we still have a son at school.

Where is it?

Situated in a private award-winning Eco-estate in the picturesque village of Noordhoek http://www.lakemichelle.co.za/, we are 5 minutes drive from Long Beach at the foot of Chapman's Peak (a surfer's haven) on the Atlantic ocean, and 10 minutes from Fishhoek family beach on the Indian ocean. We are about 30km from the centre of Cape Town in the direction of Cape Point, so whale-watching, swimming with penguins, surfing, hiking, shark-diving, horse-riding on the beach and so much more are all only minutes away by car! Travel a little further and you are in the heart of the winelands. For those who enjoy a culinary holiday, we have our own top French restaurant in the local village and South Africa's gastronomical capital, Franschhoek, is an hour and twenty minutes away. The local shopping centre is less than 5 min away while designer shops can be found at the V&A Waterfront. Our local golf course is the Clovelly Country club but Steenberg and West Lake golf courses are only 15 minutes away. Lake Michelle, being an eco-estate, boasts a wide variety of bird life. For those who have had enough of sight seeing, shopping and eating out, a day at home can be spent lazing around the very private pool, watching the sunbirds drink and the king fishers fish off the jetty. The more energetic can walk or cycle around the estate or canoe on the lake.
