We have a lovely, historic home located in the heart of Cape Town, right at the foot of Table Mountain. We are ten minutes away from the world famous Kirstenbosch Botantical Gardens, within walking distance of Newlands forest and 20 minutes from our beautiful sandy beaches. Our home is full of light with fantastic mountain views, and is furnished to a high standard. The location is ideal for nature lovers with its peace and quiet, yet it is in the centre of Cape Town.
The house is on the banks of the Cannon River, and you hear the river running from the house. The terraced garden runs down to the river, with a pathway leading to a gate giving access to a second shared garden with a large swimming pool and barbecue area. The master bedroom has french doors opening to the garden, and you can look at the mountain as you lie in bed. The second bedroom is being used as a study at present, but has a sleeper sofa and can accommodate two people. A double bed could be arranged if needs be. Both bedrooms are en-suite with full bathrooms.
The well-equipped kitchen, sitting room and dining room are open plan, with uninterrupted views of the mountain. The kitchen & dining areas open onto two patios, where a large table can accommodate eight for al fresco dining. A large umbrella will protect you from the sun. We have put a lot of love and care into our home, and we will take as much care and pride with yours.
The house will be fully serviced by our existing maid.
The suburb of Newlands is very centrally located, and is one of Cape Town's oldest suburbs. Our house is over 100 years old, as are many of the homes in the area. The streets are characterised by the number of oak trees lining them. We are located in a part of Newlands known as Newlands Village, which is a highly desirable neighbourhood. A number of embassies are located in Newlands, and there are great restaurants and deli's within walking distance. We are also close to the beaches and of course the mountain - and the Cape Winelands is an hour away. Newlands is easily accessible from most points in Cape Town, and is an excellent location.
We are a recently married couple in our early thirties, and are both professionals. Ben works in advertising, and runs the Cape Town office of a medium sized agency while Kate works for a wine and spirits company based in Stellenbosch, the heart of the Cape Winelands. We both love to travel, and have been to most continents. Kate loves to cook, and is constantly experimenting. We also love to entertain. Ben has recently taken up mountain biking (but we'll have to see how long that lasts)!
