About our home

We have a magical large wrap around garden with a great entertaining terrace and mountain views. With a pool to relax in and a veggie garden to pick from, you will find it hard to leave, despite the proximity to everything Cape Town has to offer:

- 10 minute walk to hiking and biking on Table Mountain
- 10 minutes drive to the beach
- Walking distance to many local shops and restaurants

THE HOUSE:
Our home is a light space with a wonderful sense of flow. We are all on one level. The only steps are to the front door.

It is perfectly suited to two families with kids or 4 couples.

The main bed has a huge ensuite bathroom. It is on a corridor next to the second bedroom and the kids bunk room. The latter two rooms share the large corner bath / shower room.

The fourth bedroom is on the other side of the house with a mini ensuite (shower, sink and toilet). The fourth bedroom is next to a room where our kids typically do clay and art - however, this room is regularly transformed into a 5th bedroom with a mattress on the floor. Particularly suitable for when there are 2 families, so each family gets a side of the house and can't hear the other side.

Our kitchen is our main living area, but we have a large sitting room with an indoor fire place. Instead of a TV, we have a huge projector with Apple TV and Netflix / Youtube linked up to it.

We also have a lovely sunroom/playroom, with a look through from the kitchen, and plenty of toys and boys for kids.

GARDEN: Our magical garden wraps around the house. We have a huge swimming pool, which is partially heated by the sun on our roof, 2 loungers and an umbrella, and plenty of seating on a wrap around ledge. It is surrounded by a lockable fence to protect small kids.

We have a variety of fruit trees (some very young) see if you can spot macadamia, guava, plum, fig, marula, banana, pomegranate, apple, orange, lemon, mulberry, peach & tomatillo and a wonderful vegetable garden which you can help yourself to whatever is there. We have a kids area with swing, sandpit and monkey bars, in addition to a trampoline on the patio.

We have seating and dining table outside with an umbrella with views of the mountain and our lawn and beautiful frangipani tree.

We also have a secret deck, around the back of the house, above our water tanks, which is great for camping on or doing some private sunbathing!

There's private secure parking for 2 cars off street. We are fortunate to be in such a secure area.

FULL PRIVATE ACCESS EXCEPT
Guests have access to everything except a hidden office and a garage underneath the house, which will be locked (there is still space for 2 cars on the premises in secure parking).

CLEANER:
A cleaner will be arranged twice a week at an extra fee of R300 from 9-1pm. We can organise babysitting also.

CHILDREN:
We have children's toys, dinnerware, cot, pram, high chair, fireplace guard, room darkening shades all at your disposal.

THINGS TO DO:
There are so many of things to do in the city. The Waterfront, Cape Town's amazing restaurants, the mountains, surf / kite surfing beaches and galleries, all within 10 minutes of our home. Plenty of day trips to coastal towns, picnics in the winelands and countless nature adventures to keep you busy.

I love being able to walk from our house onto Table mountain at the same time as being able to walk to the cinema and restaurants in town. We have plenty of cafe's within walking distance and lots of parks (2 within 3 minutes walk).

We are happy to provide you with a long list of tried and tested both kid and adult friendly ideas.

TRANSPORT: We walk, cycle or drive - sadly public transport in Cape Town is not great for family travel. You are welcome to borrow our bikes / helmets (we have kids bikes too).

More about us

  1. We're a couple with 3 kids, 1, 3 and 5

  3. We love to find a place that feels like a home from home - somewhere with outdoor space for our kids. We are interested in permaculture, which explains our smallholding mentality!
