About our home

'Little acorn, our French styled home is situated on 2 hectares of land. 1 hectare has been planted frantoio olive trees. Clay tile floors and shuttered windows add to the French style charm. A large fireplace is situated close to the kitchen and large animal hides add warmth to this lovely home. The house has been designed with comfort in mind. The kitchen is open plan to the dining room and lounge. It is a home for entertaining and relaxing. The lounge courtyard overlooks the formal French garden with fountain, which has a backdrop of the Franschhoek mountains. Lovely covered verandas lead off the lounge to the pool and barbeque area, the dining room veranda overlooks a lower paddock with enormous mountains beyond.

Where is it?

The valley leads into Franschhoek which is the wine capital of South Africa. It is a 15 minute drive from our small holding. Several wineries have been awarded international prizes and our local restaurants are internationally acclaimed. Franschhoek is a pretty village with a museum and architecture heralding the French hugenots and the 1820 settlers. Franschhoek is a 25km cycle from our home. Quaint shops and restaurants line the main street. Locally manufactured products, such as olives and olive oils, cheese and wine are freely available. There are organised mountain walks, and horseriding through the wineries is also offered. Through the Franschhoek pass lies Hermanus a coastal village which celebrates the whales with the whale festival. Fantastic wineries and art galleries, mountainbiking, hiking fishing is abundant in these areas. Both these areas are very popular holiday destinations for locals and international travellers. Franschhoek is a beautiful and magnificent village and has become known as the place for weddings, Franshhoek holds up to 10 weddings per weekend every week of the year!!
