This is our family beach house where we spend many happy seaside vacations together as an extended family.
Our home is situated in the beautiful seaside village of Glentana. Glentana is part of the South African Garden Route, one of the world’s most spectacular drives, which is a 200km stretch of road that winds past forested mountains, sprawling wetlands and white-sand beaches with picturesque towns spaced no more than 45 minutes drive apart. Glentana is a 15 minute drive from George airport and a 15 minute drive from George town with restaurants, shopping malls and all amenities. Glentana is approximately 4 hours’drive from Cape Town.
Our home is located right on the beach with a private direct access footpath to a spectacular, unspoilt and uncluttered beach. Take a stroll down to the beach with your morning coffee or a with sundowner for a spectacular sunset. Kids can roam freely between the house and the beach.
Our home is a 6 bedroom double-story home and all bedrooms as well as living areas have ocean views. We also have a converted loft with extra beds to accommodate more kids. There are 2 well-equipped kitchens, one on each storey, to cater for larger groups or older children who would like to function independently. There are 2 sea-facing balconies, one sheltered barbeque courtyard and one mountain-facing patio with a gas barbeque.
There is plenty to do in the area. For the nature lover, there are beautiful hiking trails and nature reserves with rivers, lagoons and estuaries, access to numerous water-sports, shore fishing and fishing charters, horse riding, mountain biking and bird watching. A real Garden Route Safari Experience can be enjoyed at Botlierskop private game reserve, where close encounters can be enjoyed with Rhinoceros, Lions, Buffalo, Giraffe, the rare Black Impala, Golden Wildebeest, Mountain Zebra, etc. Game drives, horseback safaris and guided bush trails are available. There are also many other family-orientated wildlife activities in the area, e.g. The Elephant sanctuary where you can walk hand in trunk with an orphaned baby elephant, Monkeyland, Birds of Eden and Jukani wildlife sanctuary where you can observe feeding time for the big cats. Or if you feel like staying in, you can watch whales and dolphins from the front patio (or even your bedroom.....)
For the more adventurous, there is the Stormsrivier bungy and the Bloukrans bungy (highest commercial bungy jump 216m above the Bloukrans river), a forest zipline canopy tour or even shark cage diving!
For the golf enthusiast, there are more than 10 world-class golf courses within a short drive. Most notable are Fancourt and Oubaai (George), Pinnacle point (Mussel Bay), Pezula and Simola (Knysna) to name a few. These golf clubs also offer health spas with relaxation and beauty treatments in tranquil surroundings.
Glentana is an ideal base from which to explore the Garden route. Each town on the garden route has its own character and many local attractions. Whether your priority is restaurants or organic markets, shopping or kids entertainment, sightseeing or exploring, there will be more than enough for you to do and the beauty of the surrounding area is guaranteed to take your breath away.
