Where is it?
Suiderstrand is a quiet village on an unspoilt coastline: if you visit outside holiday periods you will have the beaches virtually for yourself. Take long walks. Visit the shipwreck close by. Cycle along the back roads up the mountain and enjoy endless views over the sea and veld. Explore the quiet bay in the front of the house with a cano. The small unpretencious seaside villages of Agulhas and Struisbaai, 5 and 10 mins away, offer shopping facilities, gift shops, a few galleries displaying local art, a beauty salon or two and some lovely restaurants. Choose between e.g. a house restaurant with African Portuguese food, fish on the harbour, or a top end 3 course meal paired with local wines in the Agulhas Lodge. Struisbaai has a 14 km stretch of pure white beach- longest in the Southern hemisphere. Also offers horseriding on the beach, angling trips and tennis courts. If you want to explore a bit further: visit a selection of boutique wine farms 30 mins to an hour away. For a day trip, you may want to do cage shark diving at Hermanus, or visit Koppie Alleen in the De Hoop Nature reserve for what is claimed to be one of the best land based whale spotting spots in the world.(Whale season July - Oct).
