About our home

A classy home, perfect for a relaxed holiday on sublime Leisure Isle. Sleeps 5, has two full en-suite bedrooms, with a third bedroom to share one of en-suite bathrooms. There is also a cloakroom, and a hot/cold outdoor shower. The beach is but 150 steps away, and a fabulous communal pool/garden adjacent.

The house has superb indoor-outdoor flow, so summer eating/BBQ-ing will almost certainly be alfresco on the patio.

Leisure Isle is a unique place in South Africa, a safe and tranquil and hugely popular residential/holiday island situated in the Knysna estuary on the beautiful Garden Route. It is perfect for a holiday that involves beaching, swimming, boating, cycling, golf, walking, running, tennis, bowls, and, of course, exploring the region's many natural and gastronomical attractions.

You may use our two e-bikes for easy cycling around the island and surrounds. You will need a car (or we can negotiate use of ours); use of double garage and plenty of off-street parking.

More about us

  1. We are Brenda Neall and Gael Stephens. We love living on Leisure Isle - awesome for its natural beauty, tranquility, superb lifestyle, and we love that others love it, too. We moved here from Cape Town six years ago.

  2. Brenda works from home as a publisher/editor of two B2B news websites; Gael is a retired physiotherapist who now runs our holiday home letting agency for several properties on Leisure Isle.

  3. We love our two dogs, walking them twice daily on the island; we both love swimming (Brenda is passionate about her open-water swimming group); we're keen golfers, hikers and bridge players; we're both involved in community projects; and we love good food and wine, sport, reading....chilling!

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

Safe and tranquil in the heart of the Garden Route, Leisure Isle is unique in South Africa – and is widely acknowledged as “the jewel in Knysna’s crown” and undoubtedly a favourite holiday destination.

It is also one of the country’s best places to live, and no wonder the choice of many residents as well as a stream of ‘swallows’, Europeans and Britons who flock south to escape the harsh Northern Hemisphere winter to enjoy its fabulous weather and environment. Little do they know, ironically, that some of the best Knysna weather is in winter, when days are frequently warm, sunny and windless!

Our home is in the north-western area of Leisure Isle – a short stroll from Bollard Bay beach (Knysna’s only one); Steenbok Park; and from the small craft harbour, tennis courts and bowling greens.

Beautiful beaching, sublime and safe swimming, fishing, walking, cycling, canoeing and boating, and bird watching are among the things to do on the island. It is people and dog heaven! The excellent Knysna Golf Course and the awesome Pezula Championship Course are but a few minutes’ drive away.

This is a great spot to explore SA's gorgeous Garden Route, ie the southern Cape coast, and all it offers.

Buzzy restaurants
There are many excellent eateries in Knysna - you can wine and dine here for a fraction of what you'd pay in Europe or N America. Dollars, pounds and euros go a long way in SA!
Retail therapy
Knysna is a small town, but has excellent shops.
Walks in the park
Leisure Isle is one big park, with a beach and a nature reserve.
Spot of exercise
Walking, running, cycling, golf, swimming, tennis, bowls, boating...
Day tripping
You can visit Storms River Mouth, walk with elephants, engage with cheetahs, visit one of the world's largest aviaries, explore our huge natural forests, enjoy incredible beaches, and there are action adventures throughout the area....
