More about us

  1. We are married and around 40. 2 small children but they will not come with us on every trip. Own our own property development company which we have run for 15 years. This means we usually can't get away for more than 1 or 2 weeks at a time. However people wanting to extend their stay may be given access to our beach cottage on the South East coast or our time share in the Drakensberg mountains (Top golf resort)

We are very keen on holidays that combine activity with relaxation - scuba diving/ snorkelling, waterskiing, snow skiing particularly - but anything considered.
We love the water and have our own water ski boat which might be made available to experienced skippers who also have their own boat to include in swap.
Flexible about time of year as long as we have long notice. The climate here is hot and humid (rainy season) in summer; winters are lovely but you risk a cold snap. Best time Late March - early June; worst time is August - early October.

Where is it?

Mtunzini is a small, caostal village in the heart of the Zulu Kingdom on the Northern section of the South African East coast- the original home of Shaka's 'white chief' John Dunne and his 48 wives. the name is isiZulu for 'a place in the shade'. This name still fits today as the village is part of the Umlalazi nature reserve which runs along the coast combining bush, river and beach with some of the best birdwatching in the world plus buck, Zebra etc.
Many activities in beautiful bush aqnd beach surrounds - easy hikes through the bush along the river to the beach are great as well as fishing, waterskiing, surfing, kayaking (all levels), mountain bikes; horse riding; or just hire the barge and relax on the river.
3 or 4 local restaurants and the bush tavern (where you can share your drinks around the bonfire with the tame resident zebras) as well as the famed prawn shack make for good facilities despite the small size of the town.

1 hour away is world heritage site Isimangaliso (St Lucia) wetland park and famous Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Big 5 game reserve; as well as some of the best private game reserves in the world. 40 minutes away is Eshowe - historical site of King Shakas Kraal where authentic Zulu meals, and dancing are available.
Mtunzini is 45 min from King Shaka International Airport - you can be collected.
