About our home

We found a lovely little heritage cottage in 2012 and converted it into a 3 bedroom family home with a straw bale walled bedroom section and a large country kitchen overlooking the paddock, all situated on a hillside above the river. The bedrooms are very large, two en suite with slipper baths and loo, the other has a fire place. The main bedroom opens onto a deck for morning coffee or tea with the birds. The lounge & dining room are open plan and comprise a large flat screen TV, Jetmaster fireplace and guest bathroom. There is wifi for those needing to stay in touch or catch up with work. This secluded spot is perfect for that long desired getaway. The property comprises a straw bale venue (wheelchair friendly) we use for functions, as well a 1 bedroom wooden riverside cottage (perfect for teens or mother in law). We are 2.5km from the quaint village of Napier, near the southernmost tip of Africa, renowned for its art and food. A seasonal river bisects the property and when full, makes for a flowing swimming pool. Wine country all around boasts restaurants and wine tasting which is world class. Beautiful fynbos hills and mountains (mountain biking and hiking heaven trails from the property) and the largest marine reserve in the Southern Hemisphere for land based whale watching is 60km away. There are no electric geysers so you make a fire under the 'donkey' each morning for hot water. Cooking is with gas. Lights and TV are on the mains electricity grid. Our staff will be on hand to stock wood, water veggie garden and ensure animals are fed. Our 4 dogs are German Shepherds and will be there for company. Dog lovers welcome, or we can arrange a kennel stay for our fur kids.
