About our home

The Brakkloof self-catering unit is part of Christiana Lodge in the select area of Solar Beach in Plettenberg Bay in the Western Cape, South Africa. The unit is on the property next to the lodge and very private with beautiful views over the Brakkloof wetland. The unit consists of a lounge/dining/kitchen area with a separate laundry area and a spacious bedroom with en-suite bathroom, free-standing bath with separate shower and separate toilet. It has a balcony overlooking the wetland area as well as an outside deck area suitable for barbecues. The style of the interior is contemporary, uncluttered and understated.
The Solar Beach area is one of the best areas in Plettenberg Bay and very peaceful, you'll wake up with the sound of birds singing in your ears.
Although there is no sea-view from this property, we are only an easy 5-minute walk away from Robberg Beach. It is a 4,5 km white sandy beach. Our quiet season is during May, June, July and August. Although it is cold at night (zero degrees) the days are often sunny with temperatures between 15 and 18 degrees Celcius.
We offer dinner on request at Christiana Lodge but there are excellent restaurants in town.

Plettenberg Bay is on the Garden Route in the Western Cape and has become a base for many tourists from which to explore towns such as Knysna, the Crags area and the Tsitisikamma National Park and Storms River. The town has two golf courses and there are three more golf courses in Knysna, which is a 30-min drive from Plettenberg Bay.
Solar Beach is a quiet suburb about 5 km from the centre of town. The Brakkloof self-catering unit is about a 5 min walk from the beach. It overlooks the Brakkloof wetland area as well as Whale Rock Ridge. Solar Beach is also close to the Robberg Peninsula.
