About our home

Our character filled stone house is over 100 years old and was once a horse stable for the old Rhodes farms. Located a mere 15 minutes drive from Franschhoek, Stellenbosch and Paarl; it is close to several excellent Wine Estates - Vrede en Lust, Babylonstoren, Allee Bleue, Boschendal to name but a few. You’ll love our home because of it's old world charm, the thick stone walls, the fireplace, the BBQ, the oak trees, the animals and it's child friendly. Our place is good for families (with kids).

The old Stone House has loads of rustic appeal. The house itself was made using river stones from the farm. The thick stone walls create an interesting feature in the living area and help to keep the Summer heat at bay. A stone clad fireplace is an inviting central focal point of the open plan, living, dining and kitchen area. Large glass French doors and sash windows frame views of the garden and it's many animals. A custom made spiral staircase provides access to the upstairs main bedroom and children's room.

Guest access
You will have access to the whole house, excluding the garage. This includes the 2 bedrooms, two bathrooms, open plan living room, dining room and kitchen. The front courtyard garden has a covered patio with BBQ and dining table. This area also includes the swimming pool which is heated by panels on the roof. The back garden is not recommended for use as this is dog and horses territory... unless of course you like large dogs. You will have access to loads of walking, riding and running space on the 20 hectare farm.

Other things to note
There is no TV or Wifi - enjoy switching off completely.

Where is it?

With so many excellent restaurants and wine estates in and around Franschhoek, it is difficult to narrow down our favourites. Both Babylonstoren and Boschendal estates have extensive and beautifully maintained vegetable gardens. Their restaurants serve up delicious meals making use of their own organic produce. Vrede en Lust offers an interesting wine tasting and food pairing. Allee Bleue sells delicious picnic baskets that can be enjoyed in the Summer months along with live music.
