About our home

Tastefully decorated cottage in lovely setting. Romantic and private. It consists of an open-plan bedroom/living-area/large kitchen, separate toilet, basin and shower. It has all the equipment to guarantee a carefree holiday, yet small enough to keep clean easily. The views are open and beautiful towards the sea as well as the mountains, and the cottage overlooks a valley of indigenous forest. There is an undercover deck on the view side and the sunsets from here are beautiful. There is also a shower outside, which is a treat in summer. The cottage is normally used for friends and family only and everybody just loves it!

More about us

We are Johann and Doreen. We love nature, the outdoors, camping, and being retired. We enjoy the finer things in life but normally try to keep a down-to-earth lifestyle. We retired from our business in the city and moved to this beautiful part of the world which we call paradise. Johann keeps busy around the house and loves the internet, Doreen does Aqua Aerobics and arts & crafts. Both of us enjoy gardening and improving our home. We have always loved travelling in our own country and overseas. We enjoy sharing our home and our country with people from other parts of the world. As ours is a 2nd home we look forward to meeting our exchange partners and making them feel at home. We have lovely neighbours on both sides that will assist if we are not here. Where is it?

Tranquil location, surrounded by indigenous vegetation, abundant bird-life, and you may even be lucky to see bushbuck grazing. We are situated above the village of Wilderness on the scenic Garden Route between Port Elizabeth and Cape Town. Wilderness is a charming little village by the sea, about 1km from the house, with a 10 km stretch of white sandy beach, shop and restaurants. There are many lakes in the area and against a backdrop of indigenous forest and the Outeniqua Mountains it is truly picturesque and a priviledge to live here.It is an outdoor enthusiastâs delight with all outdoor and watersports imaginable. Golf & paragliding are very popular and horseriding is just around the corner. There are many artistic people living here and we have Craft Markets every week. This is a safe area as there is no big city closeby, with many lovely forest walks and trails and is MALARIA-FREE. There are MANY exciting outings within 1 hr. drive, like Wild Game Safaris, Cango Caves, Ostrich Farms, Elephant Sanctuary, Monkeyland, Bird Parks and visits to nearby towns. A trip to Cape Town and Table Mountain is a 4 hour drive through winelands and outstanding scenery. You can take boat trips or watch whales and dolphins off the coast in season.
