“Helen's huge house was in a great spot on the estuary and I could bird watch and watch rock hyrax and dolphins from the terrace. Witsand is off the beaten track but has a lot of attractions. De Hoop Nature Reserve is worth a day trip crossing using the pontoon boat hand 'driven' by 3 strong guys. That was a lovely experience in itself! Walking along the beach is great too and it's full of shells. A few decent restaurants with nice views and friendly locals too. If you want to get away from the crowds then Witsand is the place for you! A very enjoyable stay.”

Neighbourhood
Just over 3 hours from Cape Town and at the start of the famous Garden Route, lies this lovely small, safe and scenic Witsand village. Set on the banks of the Breede River AND the indian Ocean, its best to plan at least a few days to explore or just relax and recharge whilst watching whales or taking a boat trip up the river.
This is one of South Africa's best kept secrets.
