About our home

This lovely cottage is located on the banks of the Breede River in Witsand, which is a small, safe and scenic village in the Western Cape, and famous for whale watching , kite surfing and fishing.

  1. We are a couple who have been married 6 years now, Owen is from Zimbabwe - where he used to farm oranges, cattle and eggs. He has 4 children and 3 grandchildren.
    Helen grew up on her Fathers farm in Oxfordshire UK before travelling the globe for a number of years , after studying at the Royal Agricultural university in UK.

  2. I'm 2016, we left Zimbabwe and moved to WitsAnd in the Western Cape, we had come across the village by chance. I'm holiday....and loved this village so much we moved here! We hope you will enjoy it too

  3. We love living by the ocean in this quiet village, Owen is learning to kite surf, whilst Helen enjoys beach walks with coco our dog and doing yoga.

Witsand is one of South Africa's hidden gems.....small, safe and scenic .....its authentic and easy to get to at the start of the garden Route. Just over 3 hours to east of Cape town and two hours west of George.
Visitors enjoy beach activities, river trips, cycling, hiking , exploring neatby vineyards and historical towns ...We also have Whale watching in winter months (June- Oct) and a popular new destination for kite surfers in summer (Dec- May) . Winter months are still sunny....just chilly in evenings.
