About our home

Our home is a large sunny apartment fully refurbished in 2007. It is decorated with a mix of antiques and new furniture, and has wooden floor. It has 3 bedrooms (master + Candela's and Mateo´s). We have a massive living room/area (by Barcelona standards) with a big and charming dining area and two living spaces (including a sofa-bed). We have a full bathroom with bathtub and a smaller bathroom with toilet and shower. The kitchen is fully equipped and also has a table for breakfast or a quick snack. Finally, there's a washing and storage room adjacent to the kitchen and hall. All rooms have direct sunlight. The apartment has wireless high speed Internet, TV, DVD and hi-fi and the building also has a doorman who takes care of the shared areas. We can offer a parking spot if needed, in case you want to rent a car; we would offer our car only if it was a must for you. The building itself is a 1950s art-deco like building in perfect shape, with elevator to our apartment, which is on the third floor. We can offer non-simultaneous exchanges during certain times of the year, such as Christmas or Easter.

More about us

  1. We are a family of 4: Maria and Pablo, on our early fourties, are communications manager and marketing manager and Candela, our 11 year old daughter and Mateo who is 6. We have lived abroad for years (Germany, England, Bosnia, USA) and enjoy cultural diversity, we are looking for a vacation in either an urban environment amenable for family fun or a place at sea/ocean front side.

We consider ourselves tidy and respectful and expect our exchanging party to take care of our place just as well as we will with yours. We like walking around a lot and reading and cooking at home. We play tennis very often and love bike-riding with our kids. So far we've had four successful exchanges in Copenhagen, Chicago, Budapest and Paris, and we are ready for the next one!

  2. María works in corporate communications and Pablo is CEO at a digital health company

Where is it?

We live in the neighborhood of Sarria-Sant Gervasi, at the base of the Tibidabo hill, where all the vacation houses were until early 20th century in Barcelona, as it is cooler here than by the seaside or at the city centre. In fact, Gaudi's designed park (Park Guell) is close by. We live right by all sorts of transportation to the very city centre: Putxet metro station (10 min to centre), buses (20 min to centre) and a Bicing station (Barcelona's bike public system, 15 min to centre) all within a block - or you can walk as it's all downhill to the centre (abour 30 minutes). A municipal market is right next door with fresh vegetables, fish and meat, and local produce. The neighborhood itself is quiet but surrounded by the buzzing activity at Muntaner and Balmes, and ideal for families as we also have a bunch of parks and green spaces close by (unusual in Barcelona). As we are not on the centre, it is also convenient to get in and out of the city if you want to drive to better and less crowded beaches.
