We live a fairly quiet neighbourhood in Barcelona. The metro station is 5 minutes walk away, and there are several buses which pass nearby traveling to different parts of the city.
The area is well served with several food shops and a large market all within a 15 minute walk.
The area has numerous restaurant3 and small bars for evenings out, and the city centre and Las Ramblas are just a short walk away.
Several of Gaudi's important works are only a few minutes walk away.
The bus from accross the street will take you to the beach in about 15 mins, the service is very regular with a bus every 6-8 minutes during the day.
Several large shopping centres can be accessed easily by bus -including Diagonal Mar, Mar Magnum and L'Illia
It is about a 20 minute walk to the Gothic quarter.
My name is Sarah, I am 35. I do not work - I am studying Philosophy and I home school our 2 daughters, Hannah, 12 and Mollie 9. (So we are not restricted regarding holiday dates as the children do not go to school). My husband Guy is 38 and works here in Barcelona - he is a Technical Architect for large software projects. We have a cat and a hamster which we would like to be able to leave at home while we go away, but if this is not possible we can make alternative arrangements.
