About our home

This is a very centrally located apartment, in the Born/ Barrio Gotico area of Barcelona.
It has lots of natural light, and a balcony.
Double bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, hall, sitting room (with a sofabed, desk etc.)
There is pleanty of space to hang/fold your clothes, store food etc.
and a portible fan for when it gets hot. (Although there's a nice breeze when all the windows are open).

The apartment is aprox. 60m2.
The kitchen is fully equiped (washing machine, iron, hifi, juicer etc.) The sitting room has ADSL internet connection, a large TV and a balcony full of plants (see foto!) Perhaps you'd be kind enough to water them?

There is also a split-level roof terrace on the roof (typical Barcelona style), which is shared by the neighbours (who are very nice, and most of whom speak English!), with 360 degree views - Sagrada Familla, Tibidabo, mountains, the sea, Montjuic etc.)
Perfect for an al fresco lunch, sunbathing, tai chi, yoga, BBQ's etc.

The apartment is best suited to 1 person or a couple, although 3 is possible (eg. a child), as there's a sofa-bed in the sitting room.

Ideally it'd suit someone (or a couple) responsible and quiet (no noisy all-night parties please!), perhaps in their late 20's / early 30's. It's a lovely, colourful, chilled apartment, with pleanty of lovely places to visit locally.....

The apartment is near the Palau de la Musica, cathederal, beaches, shops, markets, Las Ramblas, Arc de Triomf, park etc.

At the end of the (car free) street is gorgeous plaza with medieval church, cafe (delicious lunches!), flower shop, deli, bakery, pharmacy, clothes boutique, bank etc. It's got a real lived-in neghbourhood feel, where people know their neighbours, and kids can play out on the street!!!

There are also various places to hire bikes locally, which is the best way to discover this beautiful city. It's relatively car-free in summer, and most of the barrio gotico streets too narrow for cars anyway! Bikes are great too, as you're far less likely to get pick-pocketed!!!

Metro: Red & Yellow Lines (5 mins away).
Many local recycling points.
Local Eco info. centre.

10 mins walk - Plaza Catalunya, Las Ramblas, cathederal, Arc de Triomf, Ciutadella Park (a large green park... perfect to relax, away from the bustle of the beach!), El Born - Santa Maria del mar, Picasso Museum, boutique shops, cafes, fantastic tapas bars, delis, mojito bars, bike hire, delicious restaurants etc etc.

15-40 mins walk: Sagrada Familla, beaches, Port Vell (Marina), Olympic Harbour, Eixample (beautiful architecure, Gaudi houses, main shops etc).

30-40 mins train ride (local station): Lovely beaches which are less crowded than in the city. Some of which have amazing seafood & paella dishes - north.
Sitges (a beautiful town with a famous promenade & beach, white-washed churches/houses on sea-front) & airport - south

2-3 hr drive: Costa Brava (north) Tarragona (south)

I can give you more info on any of this, if you decide to come.

I am English, in my early 30's, and have been living in Barcelona for the past 5 years.
I work as a translator and environmental education consultant. I also teach English.
I speak English, Spanish, Catalan & French.

I would like to swap the apartment with someone living in London (fairy central) for July, and perhaps August too.

I move around Barcelona by walking, bike, bus & metro. It's not really necessary to have a car in a beautiful city like Barcelona!

I enjoy good food, good wines and good cafes.... all of which are very easy to find in Barcelona (oh, and the Observer too!)
