About our home

Our apartment (1600 sq feet) is 300 metres from the sea, 200 metres from Las Ramblas and sits in the middle of the Gothic Quarter on the famous Calle Avignon, where a young Picasso painted his "Young Ladies of Avignon". It really does not get more central, or historical than this in Barcelona!

The building, from 1800, is heritage protected and our apartment is a corner one with 7 balconies. Ours was originally the nobleman's residence, so we have stucco ceilings that are 3.25 metre high and colorful encaustic tiled floors from 1890, which feature in historical books on the famous Escofet Company that first produced the original Catalan tiles in about 1880 (Gaudi designed for them).

We renovated/restored the entire place last year and it is furnished in an eclectic style of auction pieces from Art Nouveau, Art Deco and post-war Scandinavian Modern. Of course the bathrooms and kitchen are equipped with modern installations.
