“Cet échange à été un peu plus qu'un échange classique, cela a été une vraie découverte. Nous ne connaissions pas le pays basque Espagnol. l'appartement est très très bien placé, extrêmement bien desservi, au centre de tout et calme à la fois. Fonctionnel, il permet de découvrir bilbao, le guggenheim, la fabuleuse plage de plenzia... Bref que du bonheur, la famille qui échange cette appartement est adorable, et notre maison était parfaite à notre retour.”

“We have just returned from a wonderful 2 weeks in the home of Victor and Esther. They have a spacious apartment on the top floor of the building in a residential area with lovely neighbours and plenty of parking. Every morning the children fed the ducks which appeared in the carpark quacking. The contact with the family was first rate and we sent each other keys several weeks beforehand so arrival was stress free. The family had left us some local specialities and Elliott devoured Esther\'s homemade cheese cake. The apartment has everything you need. There is a quiet train stop close to the apartment allowing quick access to Bilbao and the famous Guggenheim museum. We however did most of our travelling by bike to the beautiful beaches only a 20min cycle away. We booked a week of surf lessons with one of the schools at Sopela beach and it was a great experience. We walked and cycled the coast to visit other smaller beaches enjoying picnic\'s overlooking the sea. The children did some parasending off the cliff tops to enjoy the beautiful scenery. We also visited Guernica, a beautiful little town with a sad but fascinating history. We returned to find our home in perfect condition and the family had obviously treated our house with great respect. Thank you very much Victor and family for this memorable exchange, the little gifts and we are so happy you had a great time here in la Rochelle. We would highly recommend this family for an exchange and the boys have clearly been very well educated to enjoy the travelling experience.”

“We loved our exchange with Victor and Esther and staying in their home in Berango, a suburb to the north west of Bilbao. Victor's English was exceptionally good so we were able to make all the necessary arrangements easily. Their home is so conveniently positioned close to the Metro, allowing us to travel just a few stops in one direction to be able to explore Bilbao's beautiful family friendly beaches at Plentzia and Gorlitz and at the same time travel into the centre of Bilbao to explore the wonderful museums (the Museo de Bellas Artes was our favourite), the old town, squares, cafes, restaurants and shopping streets. We were made very welcome by the family and the information they provided for places to visit was both wide ranging and very useful and we used their bikes to explore safely around the small town of Berango with the excellent Basque cycle paths network (bidegorri) and the girls loved the boys' bodyboards for surfing. We found the public transport in this part of Spain to be excellent and did not need a car. In fact we travelled from the UK by Ferry to Santander and went home via a train across France (with a stop over in Bayonne). The home is very close to several supermarkets - we were impressed by the quality of food and put together many delicious picnics, as well as being able to nip over the road to Carrefour for our breakfast baguette and croissants. Our girls loved the sweet shop and there are many very good coffee shops a very short walk away. We also really liked the culture of hanging out with our children at the local play park before going out to dinner (the kids menu at La Palmera was a favourite with our girls). Bilbao was an excellent base from which to explore the beautiful towns of Gernika, Getaria and San Sebastian as well as exploring the beautiful green hilly countryside. All the local people were incredibly friendly and we recommend wholeheartedly exploring this beautiful area of Spain through an exchange with Victor and Esther.”
