About our home

Large 1920's, 140 sq.m. flat with 2 large bedrms (one with balcony on the Rambla and the other with window on the Rambla), one office (also with balcony on the Rambla), lg. entry, lg. vanity/powder rm w sink before bathrm w bathtub, shower, sink w.c., lg. dining room, very lg. living room, kitchen with window on river, wonderful terrace on beautiful Onyar river with Fr. door access from dining and living rooms. High ceilings, original tile floors and tall doors with ornate glass. Easy second floor walk up, front door on the pedestrian Rambla and only one neighbor in bldg, one flight above. Perfectly located to visit all of medieval and modern Girona by foot. 12 min. walk to train and bus station. All the best restaurants and shops are at your doorstep. It is truly an ideal location.
Sleeping arrangements: queen bed in one bedrm, double bed in the other extremely lg. bedrm, where a sofa couch can also be made up for 2 ppl. (great for kids). There are also 2 couches in living room and each can accomodate one adult. The flat is perfect for 6, and though it can sleep 8, it might be inconvenient to only have one w.c. and shower. Also, 2 long hot showers require a 30 min. wait for hot water heater for next bathers. In the summer, all 6 ppl can shower comfortably.
There is a very nice music system throughout the flat, a well-supplied kitchen (I love to cook and entertain on the terrace), a barbecue, indoor and outdoor dining tables with plenty of chairs. Lots of linens, washer and dryer (but no dishwasher).
Flat is comfortably decorated with many paintings (I am an artist) and books, with a blend of antique and contemporary pieces.
I have a desktop Dell computer on DSL in the office and the flat is wireless.
Parking is nearby, both free and paying. Before moving into this flat myself, I used to rent it out short term and it was a very big success, nearly everyone would call to stay here again or would send friends!

The Rambla is the central tree-lined pedestrian promenade, full of cafes, restaurants and boutiques in Girona's old town (Barri Vell). One enters my flat from the Rambla and the flat extends from the Rambla side all the way to the river side terrace. It couldn't be more centrally or conveniently located. There are beautiful views from both the balconies and the terrace. Walk to everywhere in mostly pedestrian streets. Fantastic shopping and eating in all directions. 12 min. walk to train and bus station (called Renfe). The flat is one of the protected flats of the famous "Houses on the Onyar". It's terrace and riverside wall can be seen in many photos of Girona.

Girona is special because of its beautiful medieval architecture, its pedestrian streets, its high quality of lifestyle and its geographic location. It lies only one hour north of Barcelona and one hour south of France, 30 min. west of spectacular beaches of all types, 2 1/2 hours to the Pyrenees, and lovely countryside and medieval villages in every direction of the city. Also, there are over 300 bicycle paths to be enjoyed, all originating in Girona center (it is now well-known that many professional cyclists live and train here).

Girona is famous for its outdoor cafes and restaurants, nightlife and many religious and national holiday celebrations.

I am a painter, photographer, video artist and printmaker from California. I have lived 9 years here in Girona, 14 years in Florence and Rome, 3 years in NYC and 10 years in St. Helena, CA. I love kayaking on the sea and gazing into the clear, clear water and lovely umbrella pine coastline and taking walks in the valley behind the cathedral called Sant Daniel. I also love taking a short drive into the countryside and eating at one of the hundreds of restaurants specializing in grilled meats or fish.

I live with my daughter who will be moving to Barcelona Sept. 2007 to begin her university studies in Industrial Design. So I am looking forward to traveling more and taking more advantage of the many destinations offered by Ryanair right here from our local Girona airport! I speak English, Italian, Spanish, and French.

I enjoy entertaining and I take pride in my home, I would treat your home with the same care and respect.
