About our home

My holiday home is a two bedroom house on three floors with a large roof top overlooking the Sierra Nevada and the ruins of Mondujar Castle once the summer residence of King Boabdil the last Arab king of Granada before the fall of Granada in 1492. Boabdil and his family spent time in 'El Valle de Lecrin' before seeking refuge in North Africa.
The house has an open plan kitchen living room and one bathroom and two toilets.
The house is furnished: toaster, fridge, electric hob, washing machine, kettle, iron and ironing board, TV, radio/cd, hair dryer) and a communal swimming pool and garden. The electric cooking is very easy to operate and is switch on by finger touch. There are also basic pots and pan and enough plates and utensils.
The master bedroom has a double bed which sleeps 2 people. It has a chest of drawer and a side table.
Next to the bedroom in the hall way there is a toilet and a small wash basin.
The second bedroom has a sofa bed and a single bed which can also sleep 2 people or 2 children.
The kitchen is open plan with a large living room. There is large sofa bed which sleeps 2 people. The main bathroom is located next to the living room and has a shower and a toilet.
On the upper level of the house there is a large roof top overlooking Mondujar mount and la sierra Nevada.
Leading to the ‘roof top terraza there is also a cosy area which could accommodate an extra single bed to sleep one person (this is optional and upon request).
The swimming pool is a communal one and there is a grass area overlooking the neighbouring orange and lemon groves and nut trees.
The house is located in Mondujar/Talara in the Lecrin Valley. The village is surrounded by orange and lemon groves and pomegranate. A keen walker would enjoy wonderful walks through breath-taking country lanes and picturesque neighbouring villages of Chite, Niguelas and Acequias . In Talara there are three supermarkets, one pharmacy, 1 butcher, two bakeries, a hardware store, three banks and many restaurants and bars and a discoteque. The city of Granada is about at half an hour by car (31 Km), where the visitor can lose himself in the wonders of L’Alhambra and the charms of Albaicin. La “Costa Granadina” is 20 Km from Talara. Salobrena seaside resort has a pebble beach and many cafes and restaurants on the sea front promenade. Nerja is about one hour drive from Talara with lovely beaches and a charming resort with fantastic restaurants and café and the famous ‘balcon de Europa’with stunning sea view. The visitor can also explore the beauty of the Alpujarras and the quaint village of Pampaneira and Albunol.
You can easily reach Talara landing to Malaga airport (Ryanair and Easyjet if you come from the UK). The village is about 2 hours’ drive from Malaga airport. There is also a coach from Malaga airport to Malaga coach station and a regular coach service to Granada city. There is also a bus service operating from Granada coach station to Talara. The bus service between Talara and Granada is more frequent in the morning then in the afternoon. However, there is a very good service from Durcal to Granada. Although there is a regular bus service from Talara to Granada I would advise the visitor to rent a car should they wish to go to the seaside as there is only one bus service to Salobrena which leaves Talara at 7.45 am.
