About our home

The house is located to the north of the village of Hecho with direct views to the mountains, and only 200 metres from the River Aragon Subordan. The village of Hecho, or Val d’Echo, is located to the western end of the Aragon Pyrenees. It is in a Natural Park area called Selva de Oza which has a very old forest of oak, beech, fir and pine trees.
The village is a typical mountain village with houses made from stone and a population of around 1000 people in the winter time and much more in the summer. It is the ‘capital’ of the valley having all the required services for living or spending the holidays there. It has a medical centre, hotels, restaurants, guided tours, shopping, etc...
The people of Hecho like to maintain the local folklore and traditions. They keep alive their local language called ‘Cheso’ which comes from the old Spanish and is still spoken by practically everybody. They are very proud of this. Local customs include the ‘navatas’ which is the old traditional method of moving logs down river– men making rafts from the logs and steering them downstream.
This is a real nature lover’s area. There are many wild zones, making it ideal for relaxing, or any mountain related activity; trout fishing in the river, hiking, trekking, climbing, bird watching, photography, or picking wild mushrooms.
A typical day in this wonderful mountains and valley can be spent either visiting the meanders of Aragon Subordan river in Aguas Tuertas , or crossing the so called “V” of Peñaforca mountain with more than 2300 meter hight, or going around the emblematic Castillo de Acher mountain with its dark red colored land, or paying a tour around the Gabardito refuge area, or enjoying a good meal in the Borda de Bisaltico.
Running through the mountain trails is also very popular and every year there are several races with hundreds of participants. Local villagers are often among the winners.
For those who are looking for more adventure, there is the opportunity to practice canyoning, rafting, canoeing, gliding, paragliding etc…
During winter time , Nordic sky can be practiced in the Gabardito tracks, and for those that like the alpine ski, the house is near the Ski Stations of Candanchú, Astún, Formigal etc..

Our house was built in 2006 and has 3 bedrooms, two bathrooms. There is a kitchen, and a dining room plus a cellar with a fire place for barbecuing. We have a garage with space for two cars and a terrace of around 80 square metres, and a small garden at the main entrance. Two of the bedrooms are equipped with kingsize beds and the third one has four beds for children .
As it is a vacation home, in case of swap with points, we have to charge a fee of 60€ for cleaning expenses

More about us

  1. We are a couple aged 66. I worked as a manager in a car factory but I am just retired. My wife is a homemaker. We have two children, a boy and a girl, both married and now living in different cities to us. Even so, we very often enjoy spending time with our four grandchildren who bring happiness and a breath of fresh air to our home.

  2. We have a second house in the Pyrenees, which we use for weekends and holidays. As we have been frequent travellers, we still like to travel to different places, mainly in the centre or north of Europe, but we have no problem in going anywhere around the world.
