About our home

My house is in the lovely typical Andalusian 'pueblo blanco' (white village) of Jimena de la Frontera in Cádiz province. It is a traditional terraced house, looks deceptively small from outside but is in fact 157m2 with two terraces with fabulous views over the countryside, village and mountains. The house is full of character with ceiling beams and original floors, and is on three storeys. It is comfortable and fully equipped, with air con/heating units and a glazed fireplace in the wall of the living room.

More about us

  1. I'm a journalist and translator and adore travelling in Europe, sometimes with my family (daughter, son-in-law, 15-year-old grand-daughter and adult stepson). Otherwise alone, or as a couple, or with friends......

  2. I have lived in Spain for over 30 years, and never tire of the place, the people and the way of life. That's why I love to be able to share it by offering my other home here in a traditional 'white village' in Andalucía for others to enjoy.

  3. My interests are history, music, art, architecture, walking, food and drink.... all the good things in life, really!

Where is it?

Authentic Andalusian 'white village', with narrow cobbled streets, set in the protected Los Alcornocales Natural Park.. Jimena de la Frontera has a castle dating back to Roman/Moorish times, and is ideal to experience a very traditional way of life. It is beside the Hozgarganta River, where swimming is possible at certain times of year. Plenty of excellent bars with good wine and tapas for very reasonable prices, all within easy walking distance. An excellent base for exploring the fantastic cities of Andalucía and just over an hour for the unrivalled Atlantic beaches of the Costa de la Luz (the Mediterranean beaches are about half-an-hour's drive away). Jimena is hilly, so only bring flat shoes! Ideal for walkers, bird watchers, photographers, artists, writers, those interested in history and anyone who just wants to relax and enjoy stunning surroundings in comfort.
