Buzzy restaurants
Cabo de Palos is a small fishing port. Needless to say fresh fish is always on the menus and is highly recommended. This place comes alive by night and you'll find any number of great places to eat. Pieter van Driel Restaurant is posher than most and also placed at a great location. If you prefer to be more active, it has a sailing school attached to it, so you can earn your lunch.
Cozy cafés
The Playa Cavanna beach bar sells the best hot tortilla sandwiches. The beach is a fantastic stretch of golden sand and it host to all types of water sports. You can hire kit or just photograph the action ... great fun.
Bit of culture
Murcia is the capital of the area & has some amazing architecture; the Cathedral is well worth a look by day and night. In fact we'd recommend you spend the morning on a beach and head over to Murcia about 4ish. By that time the temperature will have calmed down a bit and city is just coming to life. You must check out the tapas place marked on our interactive map as it is superb and we are told (trip advisor) the best in Murcia! There is also an 'artisan' ice cream place within 50m of the Cathedral that's a must.
Walks in the park
If you want to take some gentle exercise, then you can walk from beach near the Seychelles all the way up until you reach the Veneziola pitch and putt golf course. Following the strip It's a round trip of about 4 miles, with golden sands and fantastic views of the med. This walk can also be done from the Playa Principe apartment. Starting from the beach next to the Playa. You will need to join the road for a while, when you need to cross over the lifting bridge. Rejoin this beach side walk at the Playa Estation Peurte beach. This walk is about 7.5 miles return.
Spot of exercise
There are Golf courses a plenty here, everything from pitch and putt to the world famous championship course at La Manga.Water sports like Kite surfing, Wind surfing, Kayaking and even Pedalos are a huge draw for this area. You can hire any kit you don't have or even get lessons if you want to learn.
Day tripping
Santiago del Ribera is on the mainland and easily reached by the B&F ferry from Puerto Tomas Maestre. The half hour crossing is great fun & well worth the effort. The beach at Ribera is superb and has beach side bars every 100m or so. The town is also worth a look see if you have the energy and market day is Wednesday.
