About our home

This home set in a mixed european woodland at the confluence of two mountain rivers is an inspirational piece of architecture. Nestled into the landscape and partially submerged the dome has almost 50 square metres of vertical glass at its southern aperture; allowing the inhabitants to enjoy the nature from every room at any moment. The interior floats inside the concrete dome shell and the whole experience is a breath of fresh air for the senses. You will not have experienced anything like this.

The house was recently filmed for a piece on George Clarkes “Amazing Spaces” programme. It is now showing on TVE2 a la carta (titulada como “espacios increíbles”).

We do not take swaps during April to October.

We ask for a 50€ cleaning fee and €50 for firewood during the coldest months.

More about us

  1. We are English but have been living many years in Spain and have grandchildren in both Spain ( near Valderobres ) and Holland who we like to visit frequently.

  2. We are interested in travelling within the Iberian peninsular or more widely around Europe and west coast USA, also arranging holidays where we meet up with our children and grand children

  3. We have a house in Cornwall which may be available to swap in the spring and summer months. Our lives have been full of exchanges and “intercambios”.

Where is it?

The house is completely private and sits at the confluence of two mountain rivers at the south eastern border and a refurbished train line/cycle track at the northern edge. In the middle of pretty pine forest and olive grove the views sweep across to the Els Ports mountain range with the majestic Rocas de Benet sitting proudly in the centre. Walking, cycling and swimming are the main attractions in the nearby nature park. Bird watching, canyoning and horse riding also available. You may want to just enjoy the sound of the river and the birds, breathe in the fresh air and relax at the house.
There are lots of small medieval villages worth a visit in the area, beautifully hewn from the local sandstone during Moorish times when the whole area was a rich source of olive oil. Now a quiet rural idyll, bars and restaurants serving local goods in time with the seasons.
