About our home

⚠️Please no swap request outside of green periods in our calendar and only similar properties for simultaneous swaps ⚠️

Our home was built in the style of a typical Andalusian villa and is a 270 square meter house located in the quiet and preserved area of the Gibralfaro, at a 20min walk from the beach and 15min walk from the historical center of Malaga.
It was completely renovated in 2018 so it now has the traditional Andalusian exterior with a modern interior and all the amenities you could need during your holiday.
We have 2 terraces, the biggest one with a dining area and a lounging area, a Weber gas barbecue and a secured swimming pool, perfect with small kids. The safety cover is controlled by an electric open/close switch with a key that can be removed when adults are not around. Once closed, the cover can easily support the weight of anybody should they fall on it for the cover is flexible and rests directly on the water basically turning into a big water bed (please note that people shouldn't walk on it for fun - even though it is fun - we'd like the mechanism to last as long as possible).
The swimming pool can be heated and used from May to October.

The house has 3 levels. On the ground floor there are the kitchen, living room and dining room and a restroom.
On the first floor there are 3 bedrooms: 1 master bedroom with walk-in closet and en-suite bathroom with shower, 2 kids' bedrooms with a single bed each and a cot in one of them, one additional single bed can be put in one of the bedrooms, and one large bathroom with bathtub and shower.
On the last floor there is another double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with shower and a another bedroom with a single bed.
The whole house is equipped with reversible air conditioning (warm air/cold air).

The house comes with a 600mb fibre internet connection with Wifi and an Apple TV with Netflix.
We have a lot of plants on the terraces, almost all of them are on an automatic watering system and a lot of them are edibles: strawberries, cherry tomatoes, lettuce, cabbage, basil, mint, cilantro... You are welcome to help yourselves to all of it!

Practical details:
- There is a gym next to our garage equipped with a treadmill and fitness gear.

- In the case of a simultaneous swap, we are open to swap our car as well: a 2018 VW Golf 7 TSI automatic (5 seats). We can lend kids car seats as well - we have 2 baby car seats and 2 seats for kids under 5, all ISOFIX, and booster seats. Basically from 0 to 18 years old, you’re covered.

- Málaga international airport can be reached from many countries and our house is at a 20min drive from the airport.

- If you stay for a week or more a cleaning lady will come once a week for 4 hours and at the end of your stay, in the meantime we expect you to take good care of our home just as we will of yours. We will charge our guests 100€ per week for cleaning for point swaps or for classic swaps if a similar service is not provided in the house where we are staying.

- We will ask for a certificate of liability insurance for any swap and we’ll be happy to provide one.

⚠️COVID 19 Information ⚠️
All restrictions have been lifted besides having to wear a mask indoors (shops, public transports).

Don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions! We speak French, English and Spanish.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

Our home is located in the quiet and preserved area of the Gibralfaro, at a 20min walk from the beach and 15min walk from the historical center.

Important information:
- Where to find real good bread in Málaga (and yes this is crucial)? Pistacho & Azafrán (tea and spice shop Calle Victoria), 25 degrés (French bakery, Calle Camas) and if in a rush, Aldi's bread is ok.
- What to do with your kids?? Contact us for more details, we'll give you tips depending on their age - but if they are into playgrounds (and you are into having a drink and relaxing) go to Casaamigos (historical center) or La Caleta Playa (on the beach), both of their terraces give right onto a playground.
- No kids?? Lucky you! Depending on what kind of music you like we'll tell you where to go to dance until dawn... Velvet, Tennessee Live Club, Liceo, ZZpub...

The city of Málaga:
Málaga has evolved a lot over the past 15 years, the whole historical center is now pedestrian and has been entirely renovated while maintaining the original architecture as much as possible.
There are remains of the Phoenician foundations of the city to be seen on the Plaza de la Alcazaba and of course, the Alcazaba itself, the old Arabic palace, is worth seeing too.
The old industrial harbour has been turned into a yachting harbour with shops and restaurants.
There are a lot of museums, bars, restaurants in the historical center and we can suggest our favourite spots.
The house is both at walking distance from the historical center and the beach.
There are a lot of kids playgrounds right on the beach, chiringuitos (beach restaurants), ice-creams kiosks.

The surroundings of Málaga:
There are many things to be seen at less than a 2 hours drive around the city:
For nature lovers, Málaga is very close to the mountains, you are 1h30min away from the Sierra Nevada and the Alpujarras which is a lovely place in the Summer time. We especially recommend visiting the villages of Capileira, Campaneira and Bubión.
You are just 1h30min from Granada and the amazing Arabic palace the Alhambra (tickets to be booked online on the official website at least 2 months in advance: https://tickets.alhambra-patronato.es), 2h15 from Sevilla which is the capital of Andalusia and culturally very rich (monuments, architecture, typical restaurants, flamenco shows...).
Along the coast you can also explore the cities of Nerja in the East and Marbella in the West.
Up North, Ronda is also really worth a detour.

Also, a special note if you like to Golf: the Costa Del Sol is full of golf courses!

Buzzy restaurants
Casaamigos (Spanish gastronomy and ambiance), Byoko (organic and with a French twist), Arte in Farina (the best pizzas in Málaga), La Calle Burger, La Alacena de Francis (Russian food and yes it's very good!! ah ah), Aborigen Restaurante Latino (next level of Mexican food...it's Peruvian) and if you want to splurge: El Palo Cortado, Matiz, Anexso.
Cool bars
Rooftop bar Batik (plaza de la Alcazaba), rooftop bar of the Hotel Molina Lario, Recyclo Bike Café, rooftop bar of the Oasis Backpackers Hostel, ZZpub.
Cozy cafés
Next Level Specialty Coffee, Massimo, Cafeteria Dulces Dream Boutique Hotel, La Flor Negra, Byoko, Santa Canela.
Retail therapy
Calle Larios for mainstream and Calle Los Martires for edgy and made in Spain/Europe
Bit of culture
Museo de Málaga, Museo Pompidou, Plaza de la Alcazaba and Arabic palace La Alcazaba, Museo Carmen Thyssen, Museo Ruso, Museo de Artes y Costumbres Populares
Walks in the park
Botanical Garden (Jardín Botanico), Avenida Del Parque
Spot of exercise
Promenade by the beach (Paseo maritimo)
Day tripping
Nerja, Granada, Marbella, Rhonda, Cordoba, Sevilla
