“Monda is a beautiful town, set in the mountains outside of Malaga. Sue and Joe were wonderful hosts and we enjoyed our stay in their custom home. The layout is wonderful for a large family and we especially enjoyed the many outdoor spaces for dining and relaxing. The kids loved the pool, which was a special treat given we were there in July and the weather was very hot. Although the home does not have air conditioning, fans, and drawn shades kept things comfortable during the day. The temperature cools down nicely in the evening. A few highlights were dinner in Monda, a trip to Torremolinos and Monda Castle! Thank you again, Sue and Joe, for your amazing hospitality! ”
“Fiona and Joe were very welcoming. They have a wonderful relaxed home within walking distance of the village. We very much enjoyed the pool area and large terraces. Try a drink and bar meal up at the castle or go to their sister restaurant for a wonderful meal. There are some walking trails near by.We would love to come back when it’s a bit cooler and explore the area more. Thank you once again. ”
“Our family, including our 2 teenage children, had a lovely weeks holiday over the October half term in Sue and Joe's house. We arrived very late on the Sunday night yet Joe came to meet us in Monda and showed us the way to the house and around the house. Both Sue and Joe were easy to communicate with and very helpful over the whole stay. The house is homely and well set out with beautiful views over the local area and lots of bathrooms. Monda has a number of bars and restaurants which are a short drive or a 15 minute walk away. If you want a special night out, the castle restaurant is excellent. Marbella is an easy 20 minute drive away and Ronda and other sites are not far away either. A lovely stay. ”
“Sue and Joe are an incredible couple, very caring and extremely kind. The villa was amazing and the location has magnificent views. Our children loved the very private swimming pool. The Monda community is very welcoming and warm. The village has everything you need… restaurants, bars, basic supermarkets and a kids play area. We particularly enjoyed the international evening held in the village’s church square, which Sue helps to organise every year. The village centre is a short hop in the car or a 15-20 minute walk. Coin is the nearest town (13 minutes) with an international supermarket. Marbella is a lovely drive from here and only 20 minutes away. Highly recommend amazing place for a family holiday, it has everything you need and it’s a very safe area. Our family had lots of nice memories here.”
“Sue met us in the village when we arrived with a welcome drink . She was very hospitable and helpful. The gite was all we wanted, simple, small, but comfortable with lovely views of the mountains. Good sized pool ,very private and well maintained. Location perfect for sightseeing but away from the crowds. We'd definitely consider returning next year.”
“We had the most fantastic holiday in Monda. Sue and Joe were so welcoming and helpful, giving us lots of ideas for great family day trips nearby. It was difficult to leave the Villa for the first week as they have a great pool that the boys loved, especially as there were a ton of inflatables that kept them happy for hours. Monda is a lovely friendly village with really good food at great prices as it isn't touristy. We had some amazing days out. We went to the beautiful turquoise lakes and hired a pedalo with a slide..lots of fun! We had a great day out in Malaga and often went to Marbella to the beach. Lots of attractions nearby as well and we had a wonderful day out at Waterworld. One of the best holidays ever. Highly recommend! ”
“Very grateful as they really went above and beyond to make it a good first swap experience for us.”
“Sue and Joe were fantastic guests. It would be a pleasure to welcome them back to Hoi An one day. We have no hesitation recommending them to other hosts. 5 + stars all round. ”
“Sue’s daughter was a fabulous guest, the house was immaculate on our return and she looked after our beloved cats beautifully! Welcome back any time!”
Where is it?
Monda is a traditional and very friendly Andalusian white village, surrounded by olive groves and views of the Sierra las Nieves. It has a good selection of tapas bars and small restaurants and for that special evening Monda Castle with its first class restaurant. There are also a couple of banks and convenience shops. It is only 15 minutes drive from Marbella and the rest of the Costa del Sol and lovely beaches, this makes Monda a perfect place for a "real Spain" holiday. There are two small children's play areas and it’s a fantastic environment for outdoor lovers, where you can enjoy diverse activities such as horse riding, rambling or trekking, bird watching, mountain biking,
