About our home

The apartment is part of our private villa which is set in its own grounds (picture 1). It is located in a small exclusive urbanisation with sea views to the front (pictures 10 & 11) and hills to the rear (picture 12). The lounge/diner and kitchen are shown in pictures 2, 3 & 4. There are two bedrooms; one with a double bed (pictures 5 & 6) the other with twin beds (picture 7). The bathroom has a walk in shower (pictures 8 & 9). The private swimming pool is for the exclusive use of exchangers. A five minute walk to the North end of the street takes you to the campo (countryside) where you can walk for hours without seeing another dwelling place. A ten minute walk takes you to the unspoiled village of Maro (pictures 13 & 14).

Where is it?

Maro is a typical Spanish seaside village. It is small enough to walk all around within 20 minutes. It has two mini markets/convenience stores and six bars selling food and drink. It is unspoiled and retains its simple Spanish charm.
The beach is well sheltered and offers good snorkelling (picture 15). For those wanting a more vibrant resort, Burriana Beach in nearby Nerja (picture 16) offers a good range of aquatic activities including safe swimming, scuba diving, waterboarding, wind surfing, sailing, parasailing or just sun soaking on the beach. Nerja town is a very popular all year tourist resort. There are many superb restaurants offering international cuisine. The night life is lively with discos for the younger people and good live music for all.

Buzzy restaurants
The nearby town of Nerja has an abundance of restaurants catering for all needs.
Cool bars
The nightlife in Maro is rather tranquil. There are no discos or music bars. It is peaceful.
Cozy cafés
Our favourite cafes are la El Hogar and The Balcon Hostal.
Retail therapy
The busy seaside town of Nerja has all the shopping amenaties and nightlife that go with a busy holiday resort. It is four Kilometers (a short bus ride) down the coast.
Bit of culture
The famous Caves of Nerja are on the edge of the village. This is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Spain and a must see.
Walks in the park
Walks ranging from easy strolls to to the ascent of the local mountain (El Cielo) are plentiful.
Spot of exercise
Maro has a small excercise park with various exercise machines available for use.
Day tripping
The City of Malaga is an easy day trip with local transport leaving fr m Maro at regular intervals. The city of Granada and the historical Alhambra are also popular day trips offered by local tour companies. For the more adventureous El Caminito del Rey (described as "the scariest walk in the world") is a day trip. Look it up on Youtube.
