About our home

Our lovely house is about 10 years old built in the traditional moorish style with polished tiles through and Italian marble stairs, but will all mod cons.and big garage. Washing machine etc. Fully equipped kitchen wirh dish washer , oven and hob, microwave, coffee machine and fridge freezer. We have some great artwork which adds colour and makes us feel happy. Our house is on the edge of the village but only 2 minutes walk from the centre.of the village. Our immediate neighbour is English and lives next door and is in Periana all year round and is a great neighbour full of local information! Periana is a traditional Spanish town with orange and lemon trees growing in the streets and palm trees in the main square. We have a great local supermarket thats sells everything including wine and spirits and also traditional butchers and fish mongers. Lots of todo shops (todo means all in Spanish) and they sell all sorts of stuff. We have lots of local tapas bars and eateries. Periana is famous for its Olive Oil and Peaches. Lots of local fiesta's where they take over the main street for Flamenco and bands and lots of fireworks! If you look up Fiesta's in Andalucia on the internet you can get the dates for all the festivals and fiestas in Periana and in the surrounding villages. There always something going on.One of our favorite things is to just sit in the main street at La Taberna de Isidro having coffee ( and sometimes a brandy) watching the life of the village roll by, it so relaxing and very Spanish. They also bake bread in Taberna de Isidro and do the most wonderful tapas, especially on the weekend when they roast pork on a spit outside the bar. Its really great food and very cheap. Our house over looks Lake Vinuela for fishing and boating and you can see the Med sea in the distance ( 25 mins by car) 50 mins from Malaga and 1 hour 20 mins from Granada. 2.5 hours to Gibraltar where you can get the ferry to Morocco and maybe visit Marrakesh. Portugal is around 3.5 hours. Spain has a wonderful climate most of the year. If the sun is out its hot, even in winter around 18 to 20 degrees in the day (cold at night in winter) and, great skiing at Granada, as well as the world famous Alhambra Palace ( you need to book on the internet if you want to visit) Easy travel to Ronda, Cordoba a couple of hours and about 3 hours drive to Seville.Just beautiful we love it. hope you will too..
