About our home

The apartment is in a 2nd floor and it's very spacious and sunny. There are three bedrooms (two of them with two double beds and the other one with two single beds), two bathrooms, kitchen, living room and a very big balcony. The house is fully equipped and recently reformed. The apartment is placed in a residential area of the city center (the main square is just 15 minutes walking). Just opposite the building we have two underground car parking places of our property. The apartment has been fully reformed in March of 2014 and it's very confortable.

Juan Luis y Esther's reviews

As a host (1)

More about us

  1. We are a couple without children. I am Juan Luis (34), I am a medical doctor with specialty in Psychiatry and I am employed in a general hospital. My wife is Esther (29), she is a Psychologist. We live and work in another city in the north of Spain. The apartment belongs to me and my parents (60s-year-old retired teachers) and we use it as second housing for our holidays. We like travelling and we have visited many countries in Europe, we have exchanged our house in several times and the experiences were really satisfactory, so we are much excited of being able to have new experiences. For the exchange we would travel four persons (both of us and my parents) and we are opened to multiple dates, although would prefer at Carnival time, April or August and at Christmas. We are ready to realize simultaneous and not simultaneous exchanges.

  2. We have two different houses for exchange in Spain: Islantilla and Salamanca. Islantilla is a very beautiful place on the Beach and Salamanca is one of the most beautiful cities of Spain.

Where is it?

The apartment is located in a very quiet area with a lot of shops, supermarkets and bars. The monumental area of the city is only 15 minutes walking, but if you don't want to go by foot there is a bus stop just opposite our building. There is also a beautiful park opposite our billing with a children area.

Salamanca is part of the Spanish region known as Castilla y León (Castile and Leon). Despite being a medium-size city (with around 170.000 inhabitants), Salamanca is famous in the world for its culture and for its student atmosphere. In fact, the University of Salamanca is said to be the third oldest university in Europe, founded in 1218. Salamanca is known as the city of thought and knowledge, but here you will also find art and beauty. Salamanca is home to a magnificent ensemble of monuments, with outstanding examples of different architectural styles: Romanesque, Gothic, Baroque, Plateresque... The University, besides being one of Spain's oldest, is also one of the country's best examples of Renaissance architecture. Salamanca continues to be an important centre for cultural encounters and exchange in the present day too. Nightlife and "tapas" in Salamanca are wonderful, so Salamanca has the perfect combination of culture, fun and gastronomy.

Located in the western part of Spain, right besides the border with Portugal, Salamanca is in the inner part of the country, 200 kilometers west of Madrid (one hour and half by train). The airport of Valladolid (only at a one-hour drive) offers flights with Ryanair and Air France.
Tourism is probably the most outstanding industry of the city, thanks to its historical heritage and to the charm of the city itself, since Salamanca can be considered one of the most beautiful Spanish cities. It is also in Salamanca, where the purest Spanish (or "Castellano") is spoken, which makes the city a popular destination for students wanting to learn Spanish.
Salamanca has been declared World Heritage City by the Unesco, and in 2002, it was chosen as European City of Culture. Dance, music and art filled the streets of the city, and remain still today.
